Scrimmage Time for the Stingers

Tuesday, August 2, 2022

It was a big day for young Jacob as the Stingers would start scrimmaging today which did indeed include tackling.

The question was simply, how was he going to react to live contact?

His first of six positions today
was Wide Receiver

He would also line up at Tight End, Fullback, Tailback, Linebacker and Defensive End.

I missed taking a video of his first carry as a Tailback where he was actually looked a bit nifty, took a hit, gained a few yards and bounced up as happy as a pig in slop. It didn't hurt a bit when his Head Coach immediately praised him for his effort.

He was having fun and was not afraid.

Life while not perfect, was good!

Not quite as successful on this
carry but he was going hard

Now at Fullback with his signature

Yes, he still has work to do on his blocking, but it's only his second day actually playing the game.

Slo-Mo look at Jacob
at the TE spot on the left

I was happy to see that what he lacked in technique, he made up for with his hustle.

By the way, the Slo-Mo was done totally by accident.

When he switched to Defense, he again showed solid effort and even had a fumble recovery that drew praise from the Defensive Coordinator.

I don't know how much happier any of us could have been tonight.

Until we got home . . .

That's when we found out that
the voice of Dodger baseball
for 67 years had passed away

If you grew up in Southern California as a Los Angeles Dodgers fan, then you grew up listening nightly to this wonderful man and his amazing story telling ability.

Some time ago there was a vote for the best Los Angeles Dodger of all-time. The winner was not one of the tremendous men that had played for the Dodgers but instead their announcer, Vin Scully.

This was one election that no one will ever say was rigged.

Truly, it was the passing of both a legend and a member of every Dodger fan's family.

Rest In Peace,Vin
