The First Day of School 2022

Wednesday, August 24, 2022

Today was the First Day of School, pictures were . . .

MANDATORY!

Jacob and Mary at home
about to head out

Because of the earlier start times at both Michael's and Vanessa's schools, Laurie and I got the opportunity to drop the two little ones off at their school.

As we drove, we heard Jacob declare, "Good bye, Summer."

So true!

Mary and Jacob's school
welcomed all of the students back
to campus for another school year

They both seemed excited
to be back with their friends
in a good, friendly environment

Michael was off to his first day of
of teaching again at the high school level

He likes to arrive at school in casual clothing and then put on more appropriate shoes and his signature tie.

Vanessa again opening a school year
in her role as an elementary school counselor

News from EuroBall . . .

Big ELF game on Sunday as the
Vienna Vikings (9-1) travel
to the Barcelona Dragons (8-2)

When these two clubs met in Vienna in a Week 6 game back on July 9th, both teams were 5-0 entering the contest. At the time, they were the last two undefeated squads in the ELF.

The Dragons had a commanding 20-8 lead at the end of the Third Quarter only to see the Vikings reel off 19 unanswered Fourth Quarter tallies as Vienna won the game 27-20.

It should be an interesting rematch.

The full ELF schedule for Week 13

The Hamburg Sea Devils, Vienna Vikings and Barcelona Dragons are in for sure, now as to that one, final Wild Card spot . . .

Hamburg, Vienna and Barcelona are in the playoffs for sure by virtue of winning their respective Northern, Central and Southern Conference titles. These three team's results the next two weeks will determine the order of the final top three playoff seedings.

With only two games left in the ELF's regular season, only four clubs still have a mathematical shot at that lone Wild Card spot and its #4 seed in the playoffs.

The Tirol Raiders (7-3) are in the lead for the Wild Card at the moment but they will have to earn it the next two weeks with games against two other teams with Wild Card aspirations, the defending ELF Champion Frankfurt Galaxy (6-4) and the Berlin Thunder (6-4).

Frankfurt's other game down the stretch, after playing the Tirol club, is against the 0-10 Stuttgart Surge. Berlin will go against the 1-9 Istanbul Rams before facing the Raiders.

The easiest path to an eight win season and a possible Wild Card berth these last two weeks, but in definite need of help, are the 6-4 Rhein Fire with games against the Cologne Centurions (2-8) and the Leipzig Kings (2-8).

The Wild Card race has so many possibilities at this juncture.
