Another good weekend for us that started with one of my favorite activities, giving travel advice.
We had been asked by our daughter-in-law, Vanessa, to come by her school to help Dora, a member of her office staff, plan for an upcoming trip to Germany.

It is Dora's first time visiting The Continent, so she had a lot of good questions and some concerns. Hopefully our 90 minute session helped her in planning what should be a fun trip for her and her daughter.

When you think about it, doesn't everything in life begin by just showing up?
On Saturday, the Camarillo Cosmos had a track meet against the Oxnard Stars at Oxnard H.S.
It was pouring rain when we arrived, but after about an hour . . .
. . . the skies cleared and we
enjoyed a spectacular day
This was the last dual track meet of the season as the J.V. Finals will take place next Saturday at Buena H.S. and the Varsity Finals will be run in two weeks at Newbury Park H.S.
Because of the weather, both Mary and Jacob limited thenselves to just two events each today.

She shaved 1.25 seconds off of her previous PR and will finish her season next Saturday at the J.V. Finals.

Jacob improved his PR by 5.19 seconds and is now ranked 7th in Ventura County in the 800 Meters.
I love schools that have prominent

Good to see that Olympic Champion Bud Houser's school record of 56'3" in the Boys Shot Put is still standing after a mere 102 years!

A HUGE win for Jacob's 4 x 400 team!
This time ranks his 4 x 400 Meter Relay team as the #1 team in Ventura County in his age group a whopping 15.85 seconds faster than the #2 ranked Oxnard Stars best time of the year.
Then there was the 2025 NFL Draft drama . . .

It was interesting to note that only one of these QBs, Alabama's Jalen Milroe picked in the Third Round by the Seattle Seahawks, did not attend multiple universities in these NIL/Transfer Portal crazy college days.

I did a dive into the First Round picks to learn more about the NIL/Transfer Portal's effects on player movement.
It was not as bad as I thought
It made my heart soar to find out that of these 32 players who will forever be known as First Round picks, 25 attended but one university.
Of the other seven, six of them attended two universities and one attended three universities.

Tough loss for the Gijón Mariners
Senior Flag team on Sunday
It was the last game of the 2025 Liga Norte Open Mixta Flag Football season. The Mariners (7-2) loss gave the Oviedo Madbulls (8-1) the #1 playoff seed for the upcoming playoffs.
Only the top four teams of the ten team Liga Norte make the playoffs that start next weekend.
The #3 seeded Gijón Mariners (7-2) now play the #2 seeded Gijón Norteños (8-1) in one Semi-Final game while the #1 seeded Oviedo Madbulls (8-1) take on the #4 seeded Cambre Towers (6-3).
