A Feast Day and NFL Draft Day

Thursday, April 23, 2020

Day VIII in the California Isolation Ward was also the Feast Day of . . .

. . . St. George seen here famously
slaying the dragon

Did you ever wonder what St. George did after dispatching that satanic dragon?

BBQ of course!

Thanks to Mike McGregor of Romania for the BBQ artwork.

Meanwhile, on the Internet . . .

And I plan to wait at least a couple
of weeks after the all clear is given

This is exactly why I'll delay
my return to civilization

Today was also NFL Draft Day
but not in Las Vegas as planned

It would be the First Round only of the 2020 Draft done in virtual world because of the Coronavirus lockdown.

Basically, on ESPN's coverage, we saw each team's Head Coach, General Manager and eventual draft pick in their respective homes and then celebrating with just a few people.

None of the usual showboating by draftees as they came onto center stage.

I liked it better this way.

It was announced that Las Vegas will be the sight of the 2022 NFL Draft as a Mulligan for this year's pandemic events.

Now for our beloved Los Angeles Rams First Round picks . . .

HOF QB #11 Norm Van Brocklin
and RB #21 Skeets Quinlan in 1952

They were both Rams Fourth Round draft picks, Norm in 1949 out of Oregon and Skeets in 1952 from San Diego State.

Our boys did not have a
First Round Pick again this year

The Rams have now gone four straight NFL Drafts without a First Round pick since taking QB Jared Goff out of Cal with the #1 overall pick in the 2016 Draft.

The Rams currently do not have a First Round pick in 2021 either.

Kind of takes the fun out of Draft Day.

Only six more days until the
relaxing of the isolation rules for me
