Sunday Funday

Sunday, April 26, 2020

Day XI in the California Isolation Ward was a good one that started with an excellent Zoom video meeting of our Coaches Exchanging group.

Once again, our Coaches Exchanging group is made up of American football coaches in Austria, Germany, Italy, Mexico and Spain who are trying to collectively improve our knowledge of the game via these 90 minute clinics during these difficult Covid-19 days globally.

Today was our 13th meeting since starting these clinics on April 1st.

Ryan Clements the Defensive Coordinator
of Austria's Graz Giants was our speaker

Ryan brought a ton of energy and
passion to today's excellent talk

He gave us wonderful insights about his 2019 season as the Defensive Quality Control Coach at New Jersey's Monmouth University.

Meanwhile, in Italy FIDAF's Italian Madden Tournament . . .

Today game looked to be a titanic struggle
Varese Skorpions vs. Milano Rhinos

Filippo was in for a tough day after bringing home a 44-0 victory yesterday against the Rovigo Alligators.

The question that concerned us all was could he physically handle games on back-to-back days?

It did not look good for Filippo
seen on the left

It was the middle of the Third Quarter and the Rhinos had a commanding 17-7 lead.

Filippo was able to kick a Field Goal to close the gap but it was still 17-10 in the Rhinos favor with six minutes left in the Fourth Quarter when the Skorpions got the ball back.

Thanks to a show of mental toughness and superior physical conditioning, the Skorpions last two magnificent drives of the game both ended in TDs and the defense dug deep to hold off the Rhinos down the stretch.

Final Score
Varese Skorpions 24
Milano Rhinos 17
