Friday Night Lights at Newbury Park HS

Friday, September 3, 2022

A huge Labor Day weekend of Pop Warner, high school, college and EuroBall football began with a short day before the game practice at Freedom Park for your Camarillo Stingers.

The Stingers practice only lasted about an hour tonight, in part due to the extreme heat. That gave us plenty of time to drive up to Newbury Park H.S. to see the Panthers (2-0) play the Crespi Celts (0-2).

Here come the Panthers

Let's get this party started!

Game #3 started with . . .

The roster lists #20 as one Corey Simon, Defensive End, 5-3, 135, Senior.

I let Jacob video tape the
Panther's first offensive play

I told him to watch for a deep fade route to the right for a TD, the same play that NPHS hit on their first play last week against El Camino Real HS for a TD.

Safe to say, Jacob got a tad excited with my phone's camera when my prediction became fact.

Crespi was stunned and reeling as they

What a BEAUTIFUL night
for American football!

Our ball boy was busy tonight
with all of the scoring

At Half Time, the Panthers were in cruise mode for the second straight game leading 42-0.

Just as they did last week, the Panthers agreed to a running clock the entire Second Half and cleared their bench.

Final Score
Newbury Park (3-0) 63 - Crespi (0-3) 6

Next Friday, the Panthers will host a tough St. Joseph HS Knights (2-0) team from Santa Maria.

On the same night, the Crespi Celts will attempt to somehow regroup at home against the Chaminade HS Eagles (3-0).

After the game, Jacob needed

NPHS Freshman QB Brady Smigiel
was again OUTSTANDING!
