Back to Normal Wednesday

Wednesday, September 14, 2022

I felt MUCH better today after my one day bout with the dreaded post-fifth Covid-19 vaccine blahs. Thankfully, the Omicron variant is not longer an issue in our immediate future!

Laurie and I got back at it today with our American football "Care Packages" to needy teams around the globe.

Three boxes like these two will soon
be on their way to a team in Romania

Romania's newest American football team

With the 18 used shoulder pads, courtesy of Coach Dustin Croick at Agoura H.S., in these boxes, we will now have shipped the Pirates a total of 38 used shoulder pads in the last ten days for the team's inaugural season.

This is Pirates are just getting started in the Romanian town of Mamaia which is a lively resort city located on a thin strip of land between the Black Sea and Lake Siutghiol.

In the evening, I was at another of Jacob's practices at Mission Oaks Park.

Old #99 on the far side of this drill

Now he is on the near side with
good pad level at the start

Interesting throw at the end,
probably a $35,000 fine in the NFL

The dogs one sees at
Mission Oaks Park

Jacob about to start a new
blocking drill as eight of his
teammates watch him

A tad too high for my tastes

The same drill from start to finish

Time to catch some passes

Out cut

Does catching on the bounce count?

Defensive Tackle Jacob Contreras

Pass rushing vs. a Tackle who is an
"X" player meaning that he is too
heavy to ever carry the ball

Flipping his hips to the QB
is a good technique

Time to for Jacob to use his
speed to finish this pass rush play

His effort was good all practice long which made me smile. He did his best work, as usual, at Nose Tackle.

Reading Is FUNdamental!

Recommended by Brian FitzGerald,
this was a hilarious read

I had not read any of Dave Barry's books in years, so it was fun to get back into his quirky writing style which has never disappointed me.

Thanks, Brian!
