Weekend Odds and Ends

Monday, September 19, 2022

A quiet Monday, perfect to reflect on some interesting notes from last weekend's football scene.

It took 87 years going from Cleveland
to Los Angeles to Anaheim to St. Louis
and finally back to Los Angeles

It all started in 1936 as the Cleveland Rams, a team that won the 1945 NFL Championship by edging out the Washington Redskins, 15-14.

In 1946, the club moved to Los Angeles for the first time and won the franchise's second NFL Championship in 1951 when they defeated the Cleveland Browns, 24-17.

In 1980, the club moved to Anaheim but still kept the name Los Angeles Rams.

The 1995 season was the Rams first one in St. Louis. This incarnation of Rams football won the nail biter that was Super Bowl XXXIV in 2000 vs. the Tennessee Titans, 23-16.

The franchise returned to Los Angeles in 2016 to the joy of most of the Contreras family. They are the reigning Super Bowl LVI Champions after their victory over the Cincinnati Bengals in February of 2022, 23-20.

Husky Stadium is THE place to be
on Saturdays in the state of Washington

Even our Spanish speaking friends
acknowledge that the now #18 Huskies
are a team on the rise

Kansas, Kentucky, North Carolina
and Duke are well known collegiate
BASKETBALL powers

The history of college FOOTBALL goes all the way back to the first game in 1869 between Princeton and Rutgers.

Never before in the 153 years on intercollegiate football have these four "basketball" schools all been 3-0 to start a football season.

Damn the liberals and their global warning/pandemic hoaxes!

Princess Mary, for one, loves
and embraces all of this sports chaos!

As for me, I could use a little
PROSECCO TIME soon . . .
