Versailles, as Seine River Boat Ride and Dining in the Marais: Day IV Euro Adventure 2022

Saturday, September 24, 2022

Our adventure continued on our last day in Paris with a train ride out to King Louis XIV's modest Versailles Palace.

Versailles' spacious entry way

Louis XIV was not pretentious at all

We arrived without tickets and upon purchasing them found out that we could not enter the grounds until 12:00 pm, which was in about two hours.

Time to explore the historic section of the City of Versailles.

France is in the early stages
of Fall as we visit

Street sign recognizing one of the
city's great citizens and the palace

This looks like a fun spot for
an adult beverage or four

A quick visit to Versailles' cathedral, a farmer's market and a breakfast consisting of, what else, cappuccinos, croissants and pain au chocolates bought us the time that we needed.

We were off to the place once again, tickets in hand.

The Palaces Main Courtyard

King Louis XIV's lived in the rooms with the three windows seen below the clock.

Versailles is chock full of art

The Royal Chapel

Louis XIV, alias The Sun King, loved to have people adore him.

Thus, when Mass was being said in this chapel all of his guests would be standing on the door with their backs to the altar so that they could gaze at Louis XIV sitting in the balcony.

Such a humble leader.

It's all in the details

Versailles' fabulous gardens

Talk about a GREAT hair day!

EVERY room is opulent!

Including the ceilings

Here we are in Versailles' famed
Hall of Mirrors

This really completes this room

Apparently, Louis XIV liked music

We bid adieu to King Louis XIV
as we headed back to Paris

The train bound for Paris
departs from this station

Our train ride ended at the
Invalides station right next
to the River Seine so . . .

. . . we headed towards this
T-Rex for . . .

. . . a boat ride on the river

Gold was never far from our
sight on this delightful one hour tour

I loved all of these different faces
overlooking our route on this bridge

A random but interesting building

Again, Napoleon is still
HUGE in this city

Notre Dame Strong

Coming up on the Palais de Justice

Laurie finds these Witch Hats
of great interest

Pont-Neuf Park

Gold yet again

You can actually see the Eiffel Tower
from just about any part of the city

Now, that's an unusual sight in Paris

The struggle in Paris is real

After our mini-cruise, we strolled along the Seine's river bank.

All sorts of fun items were for sale

A powerful looking bridge
spanning the Seine

Just a reminder, Paris will be hosting
the 2024 Summer Olympics

We were now headed into the lively, bohemian Marais district for dinner.

A cool building near our dining spot

What happened to their bodies?

Finally, we arrived!

Another good Parisian meal
highlighted by quality foie gras

Talk about another full day, WOW!

Still, we did not avoid our
sacred duty to our bodies

What will tomorrow bring, stay tuned . . .
