Today would mark the final day of the 2025 Middle School Coed Flag Football season for grandson Jacob and his Las Colinas Middle School Mustangs' teammates.
After dropping off Mary and Jacob at their respective schools in the morning, it left Laurie and I with but one thing to do.
What you ask?
Why enjoy a nutritious meal at a new, for us, ballyhooed restaurant of course.
Pre-Game Breakfast
The Country Harvest has been around in one form or another for several years now. On the Facebook page, Camarillo Foodies, it has been receiving rave reviews as being THE best breakfast site in our fair city.
I don't that it is the best spot but it certainly serves you the biggest breakfast in town in my opinion.
We would wind up eating nothing else all day.

This coveted trophy goes to the winner of the Monte Vista-Las Colinas game that ends the season.
The Camarillo Classic game involves the Pleasant Valley School District's two oldest and biggest middle schools.
The Toros have never won it.
In 2022, when Monte Vista did not field a team, the Mustangs played C.A.P.E. for the trophy instead and the Comets upset the Mustangs in the only Camarillo Classic that Las Colinas has ever lost.

Part of this lack of scoring is the Standard Operating Procedure for the Las Colinas coaches when they get a big lead. They like to clear the bench and get as many players as possible a chance to touch the ball.
By way of reference, three different Mustangs threw passes, eight players were targeted for pass receptions, and seven of Las Colinas' finest got to run the ball from scrimmage during the afternoon.

Well, it was almost over.
We still had the Camarillo Classic Trophy to present to the victors, your Las Colinas Middle School Mustangs!
A little bit of history in this series over Jacob's three season on the Mustangs teams is needed.
The two schools play each other twice a year, once in the regular season with the winner getting to host the Camarillo Classic at the end of the campaign.

Jacob's athletic career
If you know of a child attending Las Colinas Middle School either now or in the future, get them to try out for the school's coed flag football team. They will be in good hands with these two educators teaching solid values, inclusion and the fundamentals of the game coaching the team.
As for Jacob's teams these past three seasons, here are their records:

Still, I think that the nurturing environment and the friends that Jacob made over the years will have a much long lasting effect than the won-loss record.
