The first inklings of our Camarillo Stingers'Senior Blue team's post-season schedule emerged this morning.
Senior Conference Playoffs Announced
To review, the Gold Coast Youth Football League fielded a total of 27 teams at the Senior level this year. Before the season commenced, all of these teams were evaluated and broken down into three conferences.
The Senior Gold National Conference consisted of five teams with no weight restrictions.
The Senior Black National Conference included the ten best teams with weight restrictions applied.
The Senior Black American Conference was comprised of the final 12 teams also playing with weight restrictions.
Come playoff time, we were told that the two last place teams in the National Conference would be placed in the American Conference playoff bracket.
In a scheduling quirk that affected the Senior Black Conferences, the American Conference started playing their games a week earlier than their National Conference brothers and finished their regular season last weekend. The National Conference is scheduled to finish their regular season this coming weekend.
The problem is that the American Conference playoffs start this weekend. Thus, we were informed today that the Stingers Blue (0-7) team's final regular season game vs. the Simi Valley Bulldogs Black was canceled and that we now had an American Conference playoff game to play on Saturday.

Although the Stingers Blue team was winless in Black National Conference, the last two games did show improvement and great promise.
The North Oxnard Warriors (5-2) will be another in a season of tough games as their only two losses came against the American Conference's two undefeated teams, the Valley Rush (7-0) and the Santa Barbara Saints (7-0).

It is the final week of the Camarillo middle school flag football season and we had a game to play today.
It was overcast, cold and a tad windy, in other words, a BEAUTIFUL day for American flag football!

When Jacob was a Sixth Grader in 2023, the Mustangs were undefeated with the Mustangs toughest game being a razor thin 2-0 win over Santa Rosa on the road.
In 2024, as a Seventh Grader Jacob's Mustangs lost but one game and it was to Santa Rosa, 27-0, again at their home field.
Needless to say, we all expected a tough game again which for the third straight season required the Mustangs to travel to the Eagles home.

Stop by any or all of these three games if you happen to be in Spain on these dates, you'll be entertained for sure.
Only 11 undefeated teams left
in the FBS level of college football
So, mathematically, how many of these still be perfect before the start of the playoffs?
The Atlantic Coast Conference could provide us with one between Georgia Tech and Miami.
The American Athletic Conference could too, Memphis or Navy.
The Big-XII Conference still has BYU and Texas Tech in the hunt, that's three possibly.
The Big-10 Confrence can provide us with a fourth perfect club, either Indiana or Ohio State.
The Mountain West Conference has a fifth possibility in perfect UNLV.
Finally, the Southeast Conference offers up Mississippi or Texas A&M as our final possible undefeated teams.
So, barring upsets to already defeated clubs, we theoretically could enter the FBS playoffs with as many as six undefeated teams from six different conferences.
That would be FUN!
