An interesting day to be sure. It started with a fun visit, but all too short, by Laurie's sister Gayle and her wonderful husband, David.
They were on the way from their home in Orange County to spend the weekend with friends in Santa Barbara County and were making a much needed pit stop at Casa Contreras to refuel their auras.
I thought that four shared pastries from Cafe Ficelle might help them continue on and I'm pretty sure that I was correct given the locust like appetites of the four of us.

We had a grand time catching up but, as I said, the visit was much too brief.
Good in-laws if you ask me.
Our friend and former colleague at Rio Mesa H.S., Martha Jimenez, asked a favor of me today. Her request was simple enough, could I stop by Noah's Bagels in Camarillo to pick up a bunch of bagels for her to feed the R.M.H.S. faculty on Friday morning?
I said sure but why did she need me to pick them up?
As it turns out, she doesn't get out of school until 3:35 p.m. and Noah's closes for the day at 2:00 p.m.
Aha!
How many bagels would I be picking up, I queried? She wasn't sure. What, why not?
Noah's Bagels were donating all of their unsold bagels left after they closed up shop for the day. Quite the haul as it turned out!
We met at Tacos El Diablo in Camarillo to first transfer the bagels to her and then share a quick meal of tacos of course.
The two al pastor street tacos were the perfect bribe by her to make me do basically anything.
In the evening, I picked up long time friend Debi Murphy to take her to Camarillo H.S. Freshman football game. Her grandson, Holtz, is on the Scorpions team.
This game would be the 25th high school tackle and middle school flag football game that I've attended this Fall. My entire 2025 game total would jump to 40 when one adds the eight Gijón Mariners tackle games and the seven Mariners flag football games that I was a part of between January and March of this year.
That's a lot of football for one year any way you cut it.
On to the evening's game.

That was none other than Holtz, the boy we came to see play.
Unbeknown to us, he had twisted his ankle at practice yesterday and could not play today.
We stayed until the end of the First Quarter with the Scorpions leading 7-0.
With Holtz out, we opted for more tacos, this time at Ruby's Mexican Cantina for their Taco Thursday special on hard shell tacos. As we are both extremely health conscious, we each order a lone, solitary taco.
DELIICIOUS!
As for the San Marcos-Camarillo Freshmen game, it was no contest.

The Rams and 49ers played
again tonight
This rivalry began in the 1950 season when the San Francisco 49ers joined the NFL after the demise of the rival All-American Football Conference.
The Rams won both games between the two new rivals that first season, 35-14 in San Francisco and 28-21 in Los Angeles.
Going into tonight's matchup, the Rams and 49ers had played each other 152 times. San Francisco had the overall series lead at 78-71-3.
How would game #153 between them turn out?
NOT GOOD, an Overtime Loss,
San Francisco improved to 4-1 and
the Rams dropped to 3-2
We had our chances but did not finish.

Dodgers-Phillies game on Saturday
