As you can see by the Stingers' scores, the first hope was that we would somehow score our first Offensive TD of the season. Our lone TD of the campaign came vs. the El Rio Spartans two weeks ago via a Kickoff Return.

Though this was supposed to be a home game for the Stingers, the game was being played at . . .

. . . Pacifica H.S. in Oxnard

We were led to believe that the move was necessitated by a soccer tournament today at Camarillo H.S.

It was, of course, a BEAUTIFUL
day for American football

Jacob honing his long snapping
skills during pre-game

Where were the Stingers' helmets?

Oh, there they were

Captains about to shake hands,
the Stingers would be receiving
the opening Kickoff

The Stingers' first drive was a
microcosm of the season as seen
in this QB Sack

The Stingers' OL played better
as the game went on

The Camarillo ground game
showed some early promise

COME ON DEFENSE!

Rallying to the ball

Uh-Oh . . .

The Panthers' QB was a good one

A good Stingers' play . . .

. . . was followed by a this Panthers'
pass play that set up . . .

. . . this Oxnard TD run

The Panthers' two-point PAT try was successful as Oxnard took the early lead 8-0.

The Panthers recovered their
Onside Kick

The Stingers' Defense "put out the fire" and eventually got the ball back.

Camarillo Offense back to work

Nice block #9

Stingers airing it out

Panthers airing it out . . .

. . . a LOT!

Trouble

Oxnard's QB scored on this scramble

Another successful two point conversion extended the Panthers' lead to 16-0.

Stingers' RB . . .

. . . in the open field as the quarter
came to a close

End of the First Quarter
Oxnard - 16
Camarillo - 0

Hey, the Stingers are mounting
a serious drive!

A good mix of solid running plays . . .

. . . and crisp passes . . .

. . . were matriculating the ball
down the field!

Oh my goodness . . .

. . . the Stingers' RB got to the edge . . .

. . . and SCORED A TD!

It may have been a minor victory but it felt really good to everyone involved with this group of Stingers.

The two-point Stingers' PAT attempt was
GOOD!

The score was now, Oxnard 16 - Camarillo 8.

We were in the ball game at last.

Running and . . .

. . . swarming Stingers' Defense

Camarillo needed more pressure

That's better!

The Club in action

Great pass breakup by this
Stingers' DB

Oxnard responded with a TD but their two-point try was unsuccessful. The Oxnard lead was now 22-8.

The Camarillo Cheer Squad
was sedate at this point

Almost

Now this looked good to me

Blocking and . . .

. . . running the ball with some success

Pass blocking looking better

Back on Defense

This was not good . . .

. . . nor was this . . .

NUTS!

Another Oxnard TD on this well executed pass play.

The two-point run worked for Oxnard

The game felt like it was slipping away again as the Panthers stretched their advantage to 30-8.

One last Second Quarter drive
did not score any Camarillo points

Halftime Score
Oxnard - 30
Camarillo - 8

The Halftime show featured . . .

. . . Michael and Mary playing catch

The Stingers had their moments in the First Half. Let's see what they would bring to the final 24 minutes of the contest.

The Club on Kickoff coverage

The Defense was playing HARD!

Oxnard had to fight for every
inch on each play

Good Defensive penetration

By rallying . . .

. . . to the ball . . .

. . . a Panther fumble was forced
and recovered by Camarillo

A HUGE hole for this Stingers' RB!

Back to the air ways

Jacob long snapping on a Punt

The Defense was NOT backing down

A swarm of Stingers on this tackle

Brown, black, pink, black, pink

This Stingers' RB actually . . .

. . . escaped into the open field
to end the Third Quarter

End of the Third Quarter
Oxnard - 30
Camarillo - 8

The Defense stepped up their effort greatly in not allowing the Panthers to score in the Third Quarter, but the Stingers were still down 22 points.

That ball causes crazy body positions

A big block is needed here

Jacob checked in at WR

Fighting to turn the corner

Both clubs were still scrapping

It was getting physical in The Pit

A Camarillo smart bomb that . . .

. . . hit its target, TD STINGERS!

Going for two on another pass . . .

. . . was a GREAT idea!

The Stingers narrowed the gap, Oxnard's lead was cut to 30-16.

COME ON DEFENSE!

Controlling the Line of Scrimmage

Pressuring the QB

Stingers' highly improved running attack
eating up large chunks of real estate

A BIG pass reception for the Stingers

Holding the Edge for the Defense

Mashing the Panther RB

The Defense was still playing
at previously unknown levels

Good Punt Block pressure by
the Stingers

Camarillo Stinger in the open field
was a good sight to see

A short pass . . .

. . . for another . . .

. . . good gain

A long pass to the corner was caught . . .

. . . followed by a fight . . .

. . . to another Camarillo TD!

HOLY MOTHER OF GOD!

This time the two-point PAT try was unsuccessful but the Oxnard lead was now but 30-22 in the waning minutes of the game.

The Stingers' Onside Kick . . .

. . . WORKED!

HOLY MOTHER OF GOD!

Again.

Time was short so passing was a MUST!

A good reception with solid
yards after catch

This play resulted in an obvious
Pass Interference call

It was down to this, there was only time for one more play with the Stingers down eight points.

The call was for a pass to the corner of the End Zone.

He's OPEN . . .

TOUCHDOWN CAMARILLO!

Needing two more points to tie
with no time left in the game . . .

. . . the Stingers' QB stormed his way
into the End Zone!

End of Regulation
Oxnard - 30
Camarillo - 30

HOLY MOTHER OF GOD!

Yet again.

What an incredible Second Half as the Stingers scored 22 unanswered points to tie the game with no time left on the clock.

On to Overtime where Oxnard had the ball first at the 20 yard line.

Fighting to get to the passer . . .

. . . who threw . . .

. . . an incomplete pass

Another strong Defensive charge

On Fourth Down this Panther
made a good catch and tumbled
into the End Zone

Camarillo stymied the Oxnard PAT but the Panthers led 36-30.

Now it was the Stingers' turn to try to at least match the Panthers' TD play.

This run was good for a couple of yards

Incomplete pass

Another incomplete pass

Last chance to at least get
a First Down . . .

. . . fell incomplete to the turf

End of Overtime
Oxnard (4-2) - 36
Camarillo (0-6) - 30

Exhausting about sums it up. So close but the effort today was glorious and something that the Stingers can build upon these next two final games of the regular season.

In other sports news today . . .

The 3-1 Washington Huskies
were on the road to play
the 4-0 Maryland Terrapins

At halftime, things looked bleak for the Huskies.

Maryland played a flawless First Half and led Washington at the intermission, 20-0.

Then the Huskies played a even
more flawless Second Half

Never a dull moment if you are a Husky fan.

The Huskies (4-1 overall, 1-1 BIG-10) are now tied for seventh place in the 18 team Big-10.

Washington's next game is on Friday night, October 10 at 6:00 p.m. at Husky Stadium against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights (3-2 overall, 0-2 BIG-10). The Scarlet Knights are tied for 14th in the BIG-10 standings.

Well, so much for the pre-season experts

Ohio State did improve to 5-0 late Saturday night by thrashing Minnesota (3-2), the Gophers not the Vikings, by a final score of 42-3.

A great start on the road for
the Los Angeles Dodgers

This National League Divisional Series (NLDS) against the Philadelphia Phillies is a best of five affair.

The second game of the NLDS will be in Philadelphia again on Monday.

For the Los Angeles Dodgers
to repeat as World Series Champions
they need 13 post-season victories

Three down, only ten to go.

If they can pull this off, they would be the first club to win back-to-back World Series Championships in 25 years.

The last club to pull this now rare feat were the New York Yankees who actually won three straight World Series in 1998, 1999 and 2000.

GO BLUE!
