After attending the morning's "No King's" rally and hootenanny, it was time to get serious. We had a playoff game to play!
Only in American youth sports could an 0-7 team make the playoffs, but, it is what it is so let's make the best of it!

The game was schedule to be played at Oxnard H.S. at 4:00 p.m. today.
As a result, the coaches asked the players to be at the field by 2:30 p.m.
As the Team Photographer, Laurie and I got to the field at about 3:30 p.m.
By 4:00 p.m., both teams were fully warmed up and ready to play.
Just one problem, there were no referees anywhere in sight.
By 4:30 p.m., still no zebras and the crowd was growing restless.
It turns out that no referees were ever assigned to work our game.
Finally at 5:00 p.m., we had a solution. The Refs working a 4:00 p.m. playoff game at Camarillo High School would arrive after their game was completed and be at Oxnard H.S. in time for a 6:30 p.m. Kickoff.
Not ideal, but no one has ever accused the Gold Coast Youth Football League, or the Camarillo Stingers Board of Directors for that matter, of being highly organized.

Michael noticed that our old coaching colleague, Cliff Farrar, is still listed as part of Oxnard's school record 4 x 400 Meter Relay Team with a converted time from yards to meters of 3:22.3 in 1966.

Both Defenses were playing well, each team needed a break to win and advance in the playoffs.

Tack on a half the distance to the Goal Line penalty for a TD saving horse collar tackle and the Stingers were poised to win their first game of the season.

The game, the Stingers' season and Jacob's Pop Warner career came to a crashing halt on this stunning Pick-Six play.

A tough way to end what was a long, hard season.

It was tied, 7-7, at Halftime.
The Second Half was all Michigan
Don't think that I'll get to any
of these but I plan on being at the
UW-UCLA game at the Rose Bowl
in November
