Camarillo H.S. Scorpions Last Frosh Football Game of 2025

Thursday, October 23, 2025
We started the day with a cherished memory.

65 years ago today I attended
my first ever NFL game

I still have the souvenir program from that contest, a 24-24 tie between our beloved Los Angeles Rams
(4-7-1) and the despised George Halas led Chicago Bears (5-6-1).

Both clubs played in the NFL's seven team Western Conference in those days with the Bears finishing in fifth place and the Rams in sixth place. Bringing up the rear were a seventh place expansion club in their first year of existence, the 0-11-1 Dallas Cowboys.

I was hooked on the Rams.

Sports Illustrated exactly a year later

A nice gesture from the
Las Colinas Mustangs

I was given this ball with all of the Mustangs' Flag Football team member's names on it as a Thank You for the game photos that I took this season.

It was greatly appreciated.

Another weekend of high school
football started today

Oh my . . .

Ferndale is a scenic little architecturally Victorian style town near the California-Oregon border coast that Laurie and I visited in 2023 on the way home from the Washington-Oregon State game and fell in love with instantly.

The Wildcats won a California State Championship that season and it was not a flash in the pan.

Apparently they play dominant football there all the time.

Let's see, in only seven games outscoring your opponents 450-0 equals an average game score of 64.3-0.

Amazing.

On to today's Frosh football game . . .

Dos Pueblos H.S. Chargers
1 Win - 3 Losses - 1 Tie

at

Camarillo H.S. Scorpions
7 Wins - 2 Losses

This would be the 54th American football game that I've attended in calendar year 2025 in both Spain and California.

I was joined again today by family friend Debi Murphy whose grandson Holtz plays for the Camarillo eleven. In addition, son Michael and grandson Jacob joined us at the game.

Jacob would work the game as a ball boy today.

After losing their starting QB due to a knee injury on the opening drive of the game two weeks ago, the Frosh Scorpions have not surprisingly struggled on offense in losing their last two games.

This would be their final game of the season and we were all hoping that the Scorpions would finish the season with a win.

It was a BEAUTIFUL day for
American football!

No surprise there.

Dos Pueblos looked good early

a Camarillo Kickoff

End of the First Quarter
Dos Pueblos - 8
Camarillo - 7

This pass led to . . .

. . . a LONG DP TD!

Halftime Score
Dos Pueblos - 22
Camarillo - 13

The Chargers were playing at a much higher level than their record indicated.

Red Zone Camarillo Defense

Whatever adjustments were made at Halftime worked!

End of the Third Quarter
Camarillo - 23
Dos Pueblos - 22

More Camarillo firepower on display

A dominating Scorpion Second Half
to close out a good season

Final Score
Camarillo (8-2) - 30
Dos Pueblos (1-4-1) - 22

Winning the last game of the season especially a great way to start the off-season program.

Finally . . .

. . . words for me to live by
