After a lull in our charitable American football gear export business, we were back at it today. Again, what we do is collect random used but still in quality condition clothing, helmets and shoulder pads that are donated by local high schools and find them a new home overseas.
The teams that receive these shipments are asked to only reimburse us for the shipping costs. The equipment itself is free of cost.
It's a great deal for these teams and it helps keep Laurie and I off of the mean streets of Camarillo for large chunks of time, a win-win for sure.

All packed into this one box for
shipping via the Polonez Shipping Co.
This box will first be transported from the local Polonez agent's office in Oxnard via truck to New Jersey. Once there, it will be loaded on to a cargo ship for the Atlantic Ocean crossing to Poland. After clearing customs there, it will then be loaded on a truck bound for Italy.
The whole process takes somewhere between 4-6 weeks depending on how soon the ship sails after our box is loaded aboard.
It is a slow process to be sure but it is by far the least expensive way that we have found to ship these boxes since we started doing these shipments in 2010.
Hopefully this grass roots club will
make good use of what we sent them
I had offered to take Laurie out to breakfast if she joined me in delivering Vespe's box to the Polonez office this morning but she decided to stay home a tend to her garden instead.
I still felt like having some scrambled eggs, sausage and a fruit cup with some coffee after the delivery so I stopped for breakfast on my own.

Big Game in Madrid for our
Gijón Mariners
The Mariners (1-4-1) have beaten the Osos Rivas (4-2-1) the last two times these clubs have met over the past two seasons, both times in Gijón. This Saturday's game will be at the Osos Rivas home site. It is a tough place to play.

I count an even dozen starters from overseas on nine of these Sweet 16 teams.
I've lost Laurie to the Dodgers
for the next seven months
Perhaps one of the best rosters
ever assembled
Will they stay healthy enough to Three-Peat?
Only time will tell.
The Dodgers are still undefeated
after one game

It took me awhile but this was a
well written thriller to get me
back on track
