It was a fine day for reading a book, so we both did.
There was not a lot to report from our lives today but the occasional trips to the internet proved fruitful.
This parade won't take place
until September 13th
This random post brought back a flood of good memories from my long ago youth.
In the 1950s my father, an MD, operated his office out of a building in East L.A. located at the corner of First Street and Lorena Street. In those days, this parade's route was right down First Street and on into the heart of of Los Angeles' vibrant Latino neighborhood.
As a kid, watching the color and pageantry of this particular parade file by my dad's office was always a highlight at the start of another school year.

The NCAA's Frozen Four will
be contested in Las Vegas this year
This poster only highlights the four BIG-10 teams in the tournament field of 16 teams which starts this Thursday.
In 1999, we attended the NCAA Frozen Four Championship game at the Arrowhead Pond Arena in Anaheim, California.
On that afternoon, over a quarter of a century ago, Maine defeated New Hampshire, 3-2 in OT. It was the Black Bears second ever NCAA Ice Hockey crown, their first coming in 1993. To date, it is also Maine's last one.
Neither Maine nor New Hampshire are in this year's tournament field.

Our old DIII club, based in a suburb of Lyon, France, is having another fine season under the tutelage of Coach Julien Urgenti.

It looks like each conference has a dominant club headed to a clash for a National Championship later this Spring.
Those two clubs are the Thonon-les-Bains Black Panthers (5-0) in the Northern Conference and the Cannes Iron Mask (5-0) from the Southern Conference.

I will still refer to the team's records the American way for the rest of this blog, i.e., Wins - Losses - Ties.
With Spain's eight game regular season coming rapidly to a close, the Las Rozas Black Demons (5-1) are still the team to beat in the Western Conference despite their upset loss to the Osos Rivas (4-2-1) last Saturday.
The last few weeks in the Eastern Conference season should be interesting as the Terrassa Reds (4-1) and Badalona Dracs (5-1-1) battle it out for the conference's #1 seed in the playoffs.
