It turned out to be an extremely social day for us as we dined out not once but twice today!
We had a fun lunch date with Cathy Saltee and her husband Daniel Dowty to help them plan for their upcoming trip to Florence, Italy in the heart of wine and art loving Tuscany. They had asked to meet with us in order to pick our brains on all things related to their trip's potential intinerary.
We met, appropriately, at Camarillo's Chianti Trattoria & Pizzeria for a solid two hour lunch where we were able to answer their questions and throw in a few travel tips of our own that we have learned in literally decades of European traveling.
A good lunch with these two enjoyable would-be vagabonds.
The afternoon was spent mostly with some reading and emergency re-planning of the 1976 Thousand Oaks H.S. Marmonte League Championship 50th Anniversary Reunion.
We were originally scheduled to reunite on Friday, September 11th before and during the Conejo Classic Game, Newbury Park at Thousand Oaks. I found out today from the Lancers' Head Football Coach, Brenden Anderson, that due to that Friday being one of the Jewish Holy Days, the game has been moved to Thursday, September 10th. I'm now in scramble mode to see if our players and their families can still make it on this new date.
In the evening we had another engagement, this time with Koreen and Brian FitzGerald at another Camarillo hot spot, Finney's Crafthouse. There was no other plan than camaraderie sharing on this dinner date, Mission Accomplished!

this coming Saturday
This game occurs this weekend as all of the European national leagues take a week off from their regular seasons to allow for family time Easter Sunday and Monday.
Easter Sunday is for families to gather, Easter Monday is for friends to meet and revel.
Italian DI Standings
The only surprise so far is the Ancona Dolphins poor 0-2 start this season after going 10-2 last year.
Italian DII Standings
Group A is still up for grabs but the Milano Seamen (3-1) are looking resurgent.
To me, seeing Group B's Monza Daemons at 3-0 is a pleasant surprise.
Italian DIII Standings
Part 1
Good to see the usually downtrodden Varese Gorillas at 2-1 in Group A.
The Bari Navy Seals (3-0) are the beasts of Group B.
Italian DIII Standings
Part 2
In Group C, the Cagliari Crusaders (2-0) look good for the moment.
Group D continues to look up at the Formigine Honey Badgers (3-0).
Italian DIII Standings
Part 3
The Trieste Muli (3-0) are dominating Group E.
Group F is still a three team race between the Ravenna Chiefs, Verona Redskins and Bologna Doves all at 2-1.
Nostalgia time . . .
This old Cuban bodega photo
popped up randomly on Facebook
I'm loving the Ironbeer sign in the background. It was the National Soft Drink of Cuba back in the pre-Castro days and I LOVED it!
At times, the truth hurts
