A day that started most strangely with some surprising and somewhat inexplicable posts on Facebook.
The Villeurbanne Falcons DIII first
round playoff opponents in France would
be the Urubus Yellow Heads
Who?
I had never heard of the Yellow Heads but the even bigger news was that the game would be played at Group AMA Stadium, home of Lyon's powerhouse French DI soccer team, Olympique Lyonnais.
As if that news was not enough, we had even more earth shaking news to digest.
Two "storied" programs?
Notre Dame and Sacramento State?
What is going on here?
Then there was this . . .

of the Continental Football League
INCREDIBLE!
I first met Stan at a memorable lunch meeting in August of 2010 at a pub in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Stan has always been about passing the football first, last and always. Why the drastic change as the Continental Football League's Spring season is about to start?
Finally, it donned on me, it was
April 1st, April Fools's Day
The Falcons playoff game announcement, Stan Bedwell's post and the ND-Sac State post were all big April Fools' Day hoaxes.
The one about MAGA, not so much.

An AMAZING story of survival
First published in 1959, this is the story of Sir Ernest Shackleton's incredible but doomed 27-man Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition that started from an Antarctic whaling village in South Georgia, Antarctica on December 5, 1914 aboard the ship Endurance.
By January 15, 1915, the Endurance was trapped in ice in the Weddell Sea.
On November 21, 1915, the ice trapping the Endurance finally crushed the ship's hull but the entire crew survived.
The crew camped on the ice floe until April 9, 1916 when they were finally able to load themselves and some provisions into three small boats that they had rescued from the Endurance before she was crushed and headed to faraway Elephant Island.
Once on this island, the decision was made for one boat carrying six men to attempt the 600 mile open sea journey back to South Georgia to find a rescue ship to come back and pick up the remaining 21 men on Elephant Island.
Somehow, through some of the worst weather imaginable, the little boat made it across the treacherous waters to South Georgia by May of 1916.
Finally, on August 30, 1916, Shackleton's new ship arrived back at Elephant Island to rescue the last 21 member's of his expedition.
Not one member of the crew had died despite the incredible hardships they endured.
