Saturday in September means but one thing in our household, a Camarillo Stingers Senior Blue team game watching our grandson Jacob and his mates competing on the gridiron.
It was a Gold Coast Youth Football League
Senior Black National Conference game

Offensive Linemen warming up on
a BEAUTIFUL day for American football
at West Ranch H.S. in Valencia
Captains meeting at midfield
The Stingers started with a solid
gain on the ground
One-on-One battles are the essence
of the game, play after play
Pass Protection looking good here
Hands to the face?
A nice pass completion
The hole big enough to drive the
proverbial truck through
Jacob hustling down the field in
Punt coverage after long snapping
Make a play big fella!
The First Quarter was action packed
Another good catch for a big
Stingers gain
PURSUIT!
The Wildcats QB got to the edge
too easily on this play
Rally to the . . .
. . . BALL!
Jacob blocking on a Kickoff Return
Jacob at Wide Receiver to end
the First Quarter
First Quarter Score
Santa Clarita - 8
Camarillo - 0
Jacob on a Slant Route
Setting the edge
Stingers battling for yardage
Possible holding?
Camarillo's Defense was pursuing
with reckless abandon
The hand-to-hand fighting continues
Closing in on the ball carrier
A relaxed Stingers QB chucking
the rock down the field
Nice block by this Wildcat
Hemming in a Wildcat
on the sidelines
Jacob, now at OLB, in pass coverage
Camarillo continues to sling it!
Little #55 is a . . .
. . . PLAYER!
With time running out in the First Half, the Stingers had their best scoring opportunity after a big pass play, First and Goal at the two yard line.
A promising run . . .
. . . turned into . . .
. . . an absolute . . .
. . . DISASTER, with a turnover on the
last play of the Second Quarter
Halftime Score
Santa Clarita - 22
Camarillo - 0
Jacob on Kickoff coverage to open
the Third Quarter
Run, gather . . .
. . . redirect . . .
. . . pursue at top speed . . .
. . . run until you . . .
. . . wrap the Kick Returner up . . .
. . . and take him to the ground . . .
. . . at the eight yard line means you
made a BIG PLAY on Special Teams!
Back to work at Defensive End
Wildcats going over the top again
Sprint out pass play on the edge
Possible trouble
Much better!
My two best . . .
. . . photos of the day were of
this fine Wildcats' pass reception
The OLB squeezing . . .
. . . the hole down . . .
. . . and getting making . . .
. . . the tackle, nice play #99!
This looks bad for the Stingers again
GET THERE!
Making another . . .
. . . tackle, thankfully
Life in The Pit
Wildcats WR running in the
secondary after a catch
In an effort to keep the score down,
Santa Clarita tried a Pop Warner
rarity, a Field Goal
The play ended with a botched snap.
Third Quarter Score
Santa Clarita - 30
Camarillo - 0
The Stingers desperately trying to
score their first points of the year
Interesting skirmish on the left
Stingers QB operating with
little pressure early in the play . . .
. . . but would have to scramble
Camarillo Punting
Good long snap
A solid Stingers Punt
Back to Defense
Jacob getting in on . . .
. . . another tackle
Regardless of the score . . .
. . . the Stingers were still battling!
Another Santa Clarita Field Goal
attempt, this one boinked off the upright
One last Camarillo QB scramble
to end the contest
Final Score
Santa Clarita (2-1) - 30
Camarillo (0-3) - 0
Three games without scoring is tough on everyone associated with the Stingers.
After the game, there was only one thing to do, eat at the Mupu Sports Grill in lovely . . .
. . . Santa Paula, hub of the
Ventura County lemon industry
It's a city with lots of cool murals
like these two above
The Mupu Sports Grill believes in
highlighting local history
Which we all loved!
A good burger and one of his "concoction"
soft drinks eased Jacob's frustrations
News from the net . . .
"Matriculating that ball down the field!"
For me, Oklahoma State's
U19 game today in Hungary
I have no clue who won.
The Huskies were idle today
Up next for Washington is the
Apple Cup Game at Washington State
Apple Cup Series History
