An action packed weekend spent with good friends and family.
Jacob and Michael stopped by
the house during their latest
Tour de Camarillo
Saturday evening we drove over to the Tierra Rejada Golf Course in Moorpark to join the Sabolić Clan at a gala fundraiser.
It was a fundraiser for the Simi Valley
H.S. Pioneers football program
Our friends Paul and Joanne Sabolić's son, Jason, had been the long time Head Football Coach at El Camino Real H.S.
This coming season he will be the Wide Receiver Coach at Simi Valley H.S. which has become a power in Ventura County football circles in recent years after literally decades of dormancy.
Thus our support for the Pioneers program this weekend.

We enjoyed a fun night with
Teri, Jason, Joanne and Paul
In the spirit of the evening, Laurie bid on a couple of silent auction prizes, a small water fountain and three bottles of wine including a nice wine rack. At the end of the evening, she was the high bidder on both items.
The Sabolics were the high bidders on three other items much to the glee of the Pioneers' football program.
During the live auction, Paul bid on a few items and eventually won out on one key one that we'll discuss in a second.
All in all, a great time thanks to the typical kindness and generosity of Paul and Joanne.
On Sunday we stopped off here to
grab a bucket of the Colonel's delicious
herbs and spices to bring to the swim
party at Michael and Vanessa's complex
Now, to circle back to that live auction prize that Paul bid on Saturday night.
The prize was an autographed Aaron Donald #99 Los Angeles Rams home jersey.
Paul knew that Aaron Donald is our grandson Jacob's favorite football player and the reason that he has been #99 in each of his four seasons playing Camarillo Stingers Pop Warner football.
After winning the bidding and collecting the jersey, Paul turned to Laurie and me and said, "Here, give this to Jacob, it's his."
The Pioneers program was more than happy for Paul's bidding and today when we got to Michael and Vanessa's home . . .
. . . Jacob was OVER THE MOON!
Did I mention that Paul and Joanne are generous folk?
Well they are!

were actually there for a swim party
A most enjoyable weekend to say the least.
Now, for news from the net . . .

This weekend's look at the
beleaguered ELF
It is looking more and more like this is the ELF's last season with a new, smaller and hopefully better organized European Football Alliance forming to supplant the ELF in 2026.
First, I wanted to see if any of the three 0-10 ELF clubs broke through with their first win on Saturday.
YAHOO!
In Overtime, the now 1-10 Fehérvár Enthroners destroyed the Berlin Thunder (3-8), good for them!
Ouch!
This game definitely did not go into Overtime.
It was 63-0 at Halftime.
The Helvetic Mercenaries (0-11) last chance for a win in 2025 will come next Saturday, in Prague, against the Lions (6-5).
No luck here either
The Cologne Centurions (0-11) also continued their struggles.
Their last hope of an initial victory this season will come on Sunday when they travel to Austria to try to take the measure of the Tirol Raiders (5-6).
What do I think of these jerseys?
I kind of like them!
The Munich Ravens (10-1) unveiled these alternate jersey beauties over the weekend in their home 30-27 win over the Madrid Bravos (7-4).

A good but still irrelevant start that counts for little until the regular season starts in a few weeks.
We'll see . . .
