First Day of School in Las Vegas and Prague Lions Game Poster Mania

Monday, August 11, 2025

Today was the first day of school in Las Vegas so the Contreras Clan's Nevada cohort was off to another year of learning in the desert heat.

Emma is a high school Senior

Max is a high school Freshman

Kevin is an 8th grader

Savannah is a 6th grader

Here's wishing all four of them and their parents a great scholastic year!

At 8:30 a.m., I attended our monthly breakfast meeting at Camarillo's Eggs and Things restaurant with about eight other retired Rio Mesa H.S. teachers. It was a fun two hours as always.

More News from the Net . . .

The rise of the 2026 EFA continues as the
demise of the ELF becomes inevitable

Nine of the current ELF teams are
committed to the EFA next year

These nine potential EFA teams with their current records are:
Nordic Storm 10-1
Vienna Vikings 10-1
Madrid Bravos 7-4
Paris Musketeers 7-4
Rhein Fire 7-4
Frankfurt Galaxy 6-5
Prague Lions 6-5
Tirol Raiders 5-6
Wroclaw Panthers 5-6

Of concern is that two current ELF teams from football crazy Germany, the South Division Champion Munich Ravens and West Division Champion Stuttgart Surge, are not at this time part of the European Football Alliance scene.

These are the seven current ELF clubs apparently without an international league in 2026:
Munich Ravens 10-1
Stuttgart Surge 9-2
Berlin Thunder 3-8
Hamburg Sea Devils 2-9
Fehérvár Enthroners 1-10
Cologne Centurions 0-11
Helvetic Mercenaries 0-11

The silver lining for me is that the Prague Lions will hopefully continue their AWESOME game posters again next year. No matter what their record is, they continue to crank out these high quality posters that always catch my eye.

While I must say that the ELF's graphics division has been top notch all five years of the league's existence, the Lions' graphic people are clearly the best of any individual team's graphics.

Let's take a look at all 12 of the Lions 2025 posters.

Game 1 vs. Vienna Vikings
Vikings 28 - Lions 6

Stain glass mauling of a Viking works for me.

Game 2 vs. Hamburg Sea Devils
Sea Devils 28 - Lions 13

That Sea Devil is an awesome mascot!

Game 3 at Fehérvár Enthroners
Lions 40 - Enthroners 0

The Lion King sitting on a throne is a good look.

Game 4 at Wroclaw Panthers
Lions 45 - Panthers 13

Unfortunately, excellent paw placement for this Panther's block.

Game 5 at Hamburg Sea Devils
Lions 19 - Sea Devils 14

This Sea Devil is even better than the first one.

Game 6 at Frankfurt Galaxy
Lions 37 - Galaxy 16

Roaring at the night sky. I get it.

Game 7 at Vienna Vikings
Vikings 34 - Lions 0

Solid, but I liked the first Viking game poster better.

Game 8 vs. Wroclaw Panthers
Panthers 41 - Lions 37

Similarly, I liked the first Panthers' game poster more.

Game 9 vs. Fehérvár Enthroners
Lions 10 - Enthroners 6

Redundant Lion King on the Budapest club's throne but I liked the stained glass more than the Game 3 poster.

Game 10 at Helvetic Mercenaries
Lions 60 - Mercenaries 20

As son Michael pointed out, it helped that the Mercenary depicted has his blade facing the wrong way.

Game 11 vs. Frankfurt Galaxy
Galaxy 28 - Lions 21

Pretty much a repeat of the Game 6 poster but, then again, I don't know what else you can do to battle an entire galaxy.

Game 13 vs. Helvetic Mercenaries
Sunday, August 17th

That Mercenary has his blade again pointing the wrong way I believe.

Finish strong my proud Lions!

After today's weigh in, it's my only hope
