What should have been an easy day after dropping the grandkids off at school in the morning became a bit more complicated when the east end of Camarillo suffered a rare power outage.
While our western end of town was cruising through the warm day, the power outage eventually forced the two schools where Mary and Jacob are learning their newest lessons to call it a day at around 12:45 p.m.
With both Vanessa and Michael still at work until 3:00 at the earliest, it was time for the retired grandparents to come to the rescue.
Vanessa's parents were off to the local elementary school to pick up Mary while I was doing the same for Jacob at his middle school.
OLD PEOPLE RULE!
After getting a quick meal at McDonald's and then getting him back to his home once Michael was home from his school day, I was off to my second football game of the 2025 season.
It was a J.V. game of my former players, Jorge Zaragoza, from over a quarter of a century ago who had invited me to attend this season opener for both squads as he was once again coaching the Offensive Line for Rio Mesa H.S.
Of course I said a heartfelt. "YES!"

From Rio Mesa, I then headed to the Camarillo Community Center for another Stingers' practice.
It was cooling down nicely

It was not a positive night for the Stingers who felt the wrath of the coaching staff for the bulk of the two hours.
To take the edge off of the practice, I joined Michael and Jacob for a post-practice meal.
Thankfully, Estabalos Meat Market
serves up amazing burritos and tortas
As usual, Mexican food brought a smile to everyone's spirits after a long, hard workout.
Tomorrow is another day.
