It took all night but by the time that we awakened today we were dry again for the most part.
We bid farewell to our pink Victorian
Airbnb and to our friends Susie and
Mark Johnson as well
They were driving north for four hours to their home in Seattle while we were about to start our decidedly free form journey back to Camarillo that would last us the next four days.
We drove by the home of the
Junction City H.S. Tigers

It was reported that we might possibly need to use chains, which we did not have, through the Siskiyou Mountains on parts of Interstate 5. Thus we switched to Plan B, a drive west to Highway 101 and then south along the rugged, gorgeous Oregon Coast to Coos Bay, Oregon.
This drive took us through by some
beautiful structures and landscapes
It was certainly rural for
the most part

0-2 in football in 2023
According to MaxPreps, both losses were by forfeit at the start of the season. There were no scores announced for any of the Sailors final five regular season games.

Eventually, our slow paced drive got us to our destination city for the night, Coos Bay, Oregon.
Coos Bay was the home of one of
America's all-time great long distance
runners, Steve Prefontaine
He prepped locally at Marshfield H.S. and then continued his running career at the University of Oregon.
A member of the 1972 USA Olympic track team, he at one time he held the American record in every distance from 2,000 to 10,00 meters.
Tragically, he died in a car accident at the age of 24.
Our son, Michael loves running distances and Steve Prefontaine was a legendary figure for him.
We promised Michael to swing past Marshfield H.S. on Monday to take a few photos.

GREAT NEWS!
The Washington Huskies and Washington State Cougars have agreed to five more Apple Cups starting in 2024 as non-conference foes for the first time in their 115 game rivalry that started in 1900.
Now if the Dawgs could just get Oregon State back on the schedule ASAP it would be wonderful news too.
