On Monday, for grandson Jacob, Freshman football at Camarillo H.S. started in earnest.
The first Frosh game of the 2026
season will see the Scorpions traveling
to play the Santa Barbara H.S. Dons
at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 20th

As if practicing football from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. wasn't enough . . .
. . . Jacob then needed to attend
a Camarillo H.S. Track practice
scheduled to last until 8:00 p.m.
These practices were for Field Events only, so Jacob worked on one of his usual events, the Long Jump.
Later in this workout, Jacob was introduced for the first time to a companion event, the Triple Jump.

In Las Vegas, Grandson Kevin's
French bulldog, Biscuit, was,
understandibly, rooting for "Le Bleu"
Spain cared not for Biscuit's loyalty
Spain (6-0-1) completely dominated
France (6-1-0), 2-0
Yes indeed, Spain is in the Finals
France wil play in the Third Place game next Saturday.

On the other hand, France has
World Cup issues when trailing
at Halftime
To be clear, while I use the American win-loss-tie method of relaying team records, the European way is to record records as win-tie-loss.
Thus Team France in ALL-TIME World Cup history have a record of 0 Wins-1 Tie-12 Losses when trailing at Halftime.
In the evening, the Book Club that I recently joined, convened at the home of the FitzGeralds to discuss our Book of the Month, The Boys of Summer by Roger Kahn.

Messi was amazing as usual even though he did not score today.
England will be talking about this disastrous game for years to come.
England (5-1-1) plays France (6-1-0) for Third Place in the World Cup on Saturday.
