The end of the sixth month of the year was yet another warm one in La Quinta spent mostly in our pool, cajoling with our housemates, noshing constantly and alternately watching tennis action at Wimbledon and World Cup soccer matches.

I thought that a further look at our palatial desert abode was in order.

Did I mention that our accommodations are posh to say the least?
After her float, Koreen had a confession to make.
She had seen yesterday's blogpost that included a photo of the five pairs of flip-flops that Laurie had brought with her for our four night stay in the greater Coachella Valley.

a pair of sandals
This allows her to be fashionably shod with a fresh look every ten hours of our stay in La Quinta, 24-7.
Koreen FitzGerald is an amazing woman when you get right down to it.
In the evening we decided to drive into town to explore and have dinner.

This quaint four block long area includes 16 shops and nine dining options just a few minutes away.
On a still toasty Tuesday night, all save one shop, the Coco Rose, which dealt in women's clothing, jewelry and assorted eclectic trinkets.
Of course, each of our ladies brought home some unbelievable treasures from their time in this desert shopping oasis.

We heeded the Coco Rose sales lady's
learned advice and ate at the
Stuft Pizza Bar & Grill
Just as she had related to us, we found a menu offering a wide variety of delicious food possibilities, refreshing adult beverages and the Mexico-Ecuador World Cup match on TV surrounded by dozens of wildly cheering Team Mexico fans many wearing their clubs colorful green Aztec Calendar infused jerseys.
I like their jerseys.
From my seat at Stuft Pizza, I saw
that Pabst Blue Ribbon was on sale
across the street
The La Quinta Liquor store looked like the perfect spot for the local upper crust to go when needing to replenish their wet bars.
Dinner devoured slowly but steadily while continuing our fun conversations on any and all topics that came to mind, some of us still had room for dessert.
The Nitroinfusions Ice Cream
shop got the overwhelming call
Three mint chip, one salted caramel and one half pint salted caramel and chocolate espresso combo, please.
Now what is the fuss over the nitroinfusion process, may I ask?

HOLY MOTHER OF GOD!
After the mesmerizing show that turned out amazingly good ice cream, we sat outside to enjoy it all.
While no one was disappointed, there was a clear winner. Gonzo's choice of chocolate espresso took the "Best in Show" prize by a large margin.

I need to update you all on Laurie's condition after her fall while getting out of the pool yesterday.
She is recovering quickly and should be back in 100% full swing in the next day or two.
Dr. Brian and Physiotherapist Gonzo are both saying that a full and speedy recovery is projected if Laurie continues to follow their sage advice.
Good to know.

France defeated Sweden, 3-0, and
will now play Paraguay on July 4th
Mexico defeated Ecuador, 2-0, and
will play the winner of the
England-DR Congo game on July 5th
There were no Overtimes or PK shootouts today but there was still excitement and tension on the pitch all day long.
By the way, teams that have scored two+ goals in this year's World Cup tournament have won 45 games, lost six games and tied in two games.
