Since Jacob's Camarillo Stingers have a bye this week, we opted for a weekend road trip.

The book Saturday Afternoon, College Football and the Men Who Made the Day by Richard Whittingham states that one of the ten greatest things about college football is an autumn afternoon at West Point.

I got the opportunity to visit West Point a few years ago with Mark Johnson for the Army-Lehigh game and the setting was indeed incredible.

I wanted to bring Andrew and Kevin with Michael and Jacob but our Las Vegas crew has a soccer game this weekend which, rightfully so, took priority.

Thus, I will join Michael and
Jacob to enjoy the weekend in
New York watching two northeast
college football teams battling

Boston College Eagles (2-3) at
Army Black Knights (2-2)

Boston College is a member of one of the Power Five conferences, the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Meanwhile, Army operates as an Independent, one of only four such FBS college football programs this season.

The other three Independents this season are Connecticut, Massachusetts and Notre Dame.

#18 Penn State - 6
#6 Army - 35

Those were the days.

Our seats will be to the right of the Corps of Cadets seen here.

The setting at Army's Michie Stadium
is simply breathtaking deep in the
Hudson River Valley

Add the Corps of Cadets marching into the stadium and the pageantry that is college football will be in full bloom.

With plane tickets, rental car reservation, hotel reservation and game ducats all in hand, it only remains for me to pack for the weekend.

I plan to pack a tad lighter than this

News from the European League of Football . . .

It was announced on Tuesday that
the 2024 season will see 17 teams
vying in the ELF's fourth campaign

The ELF's footprint will spread over nine countries in 2024 as follows:

AUSTRIA
Tirol Raiders
Vienna Vikings

CZECH REPUBLIC
Prague Lions

FRANCE
Paris Musketeers

GERMANY
Berlin Thunder
Cologne Centurions
Frankfurt Galaxy
Hamburg Sea Devils
Munich Ravens
Rhein Fire
Stuttgart Surge

HUNGARY
Ferhérvár Enthroners

ITALY
Milano Seamen

POLAND
Wroclaw Panthers

SPAIN
Barcelona Dragons
Madrid Bravos

SWITZERLAND
Helvetic Guards

It looks like the two ELF teams that folded in 2023, Germany's Leipzig Kings and Turkey's Istanbul Rams, will not be returning to action any time soon.

GO ARMY, BEAT BC!

This should be a fun weekend for us if the weather back East cooperates.
