Super Bowl LX Sunday

Sunday, February 8, 2026

At last, we had arrived at the final game of the NFL season, Super Bowl LX, to be played in Santa Clara, California's Levi's Stadium, home of the San Francisco 49ers.

The morning brought us several tidbits of interest . . .

More than one USA Winter Olympian
stated similar sentiments from the
Milano-Cortina Games this weekend

America's Glorious Leader was not happy about the comments to the point of calling one of them a "loser" during one of his insightful midnight rants on social media.

The Wilberforce University Bulldogs
are establishing a Men's football and a
Women's flag football program in 2027

They are looking for donations to start up their ambitious athletic goals.

Wilberforce, located in Ohio, is a private Historically Black College and University that was founded in 1856. It was one of only three HBCUs founded before the start of the American Civil War.

The other two prestigious HBCUs in the group are Cheney University (nee The Institute for Colored Youth) founded in 1837 and Lincoln University (nee Ashmun Institute) in 1854. Both of these institutions of higher learning are located in Pennsylvania.

As for the Wilberforce Bulldogs' current athletic programs, they compete in the NAIA's Historically Black College and Universities Athletic Conference, formerly the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference.

The HBCUAC includes 15 universities located in the states of Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Please donate if you can.

Sunday's Spanish DII results

Sueca Ricers (1-1-1) - 29
Murcia Cobras (1-3) - 0

POSTPONED
Pinto Glod Bats (1-1) at
Tres Cantos Jabatos (0-2)

We were off to watch Super Bowl LX at Michael and Vanessa's home with Mary, Jacob, Vanessa's parents and her sister.

The AFC Champion
New England Patriots (17-3)
vs.
The NFC Champion
Seattle Seahawks (16-3)

It was Super Bowl SUNDAY

Which reminded me that for our American football crazed friends in Europe, it was Super Bowl MONDAY as the game didn't kickoff until 12:30 a.m. Monday morning on the Continent.

I thought about friends Scott Savoie and Mark Bridgewater who are coaching the Varese Skorpions in Northern Italy this season, the first for both of them in wacky, wonderful world of EuroBall. I hope that they had a grand time watching the game in the wee hours of the morning.

A tasty and ever expanding spread
for our Super Bowl watch party of seven

Michael requested that we wear football jeseys today.

So we did!

Laurie wore a 2013 Bron-Villeurbanne Falcons jersey while I opted for a vintage 2008 Catania Elephants home tunic in the club's signature color, Mt. Etna Molten Lava Red.

Michael had a Falcons jersey
of his own to wear proudly

Our group was rooting more for
the Seahawks QB Sam Darnold's
redemption story actually

The game was nowhere as close
as the score would indicate

Seattle's suffocating Defense, a punishing ground game and never turning the ball over either in this game or in any of their three playoff games earned them The Ring.

I 100% agreed with this selection

Yep, that about sums up our
shared experience today

American football may be over for another six months but don't panic more EuroBall leagues will soon be starting their 2026 seasons.

Stay tuned . . .
