Trick or treat?
Yes indeed, it was the night for hobgoblins of all ages to hit the streets in search of delicious goodies of all types.
We decided to spend the evening at Mary and Jacobs's home to hand out treats while simultaneously watching Game 6 of the World Series.
The confluence of these two events meant no high school football game for me tonight.
Even the Huskies got into
the spirit on their bye week
One of my former students who is
now a teacher, Justin Schmidt, sent
me this photo this morning
He said that he was on his way to work and channeling his inner George Contreras.
This look was my go to Halloween look at school for years.
I was touched by his kind gesture.
Besides being a fine teacher, Justin has also become one of Ventura County's best high school football referees.
Mary's pumpkin was on display
when we got to their home

Our evening's first
Trick or Treaters
So young, so cute and so full of innocent wonder on what their parents said was their first ever night of trick or treating.
Mary started the night with friends
Her costume was one of a TV/movie character of whom I was completely clueless but I was told that she pulled it off flawlessly.
Jacob opted to go as a referee
Former students/football players and friends Justin Schmidt, Diego Renteria and Cat Conti would be proud.

World Series Game
The Dodgers were trailing the
Blue Jays three games to two
The Dodgers would need to conjure
up all of their spooky friends
It was an Elimination Game
for the Dodgers
The Blue Jays had won
Games Four and Five easily
One more Blue Jays win would
give then their first World Series
Championship in 32 years
Game Six was being played in Toronto as would Game Seven if needed.
Winning two games in Canada would be tough for the Dodgers to say the least.
So what happened?
An AMAZING win for the
Boys in Blue!
An incredible 7-4 double play to end the game between left fielder Kiké Hernández and second baseman Miguel Rojas ended a highly competitive ball game.
The quest for another title was now
12 Wins Down and . . .
. . . 1 To Go!
With the World Series now tied at three games apiece, we were geared up for the final contest of the season, the Winner-Take-All Game Seven in Toronto on Saturday night.
There were six local high school games
going on while we were giving out
treats and rooting for the Dodgers
Our friend Nicolas Principi will
again be competing for Team Italy
in two weeks against Team Canada
The game will be played in Milan which is a plus for the Italian squad I would think.

On many levels now this weekend . . .
