Laid Back Maui takes Its Toll

Wednesday, March 6, 2024
Maui is the Hawaiian word for chill.

Who were we to argue?

The beautiful view at the Kama'ole III
beach across the street from the Johnson's
Vacation Compound

This is the view North from our tanning spot.

This is the Southern exposure from
our same beach chairs

These views pretty much accounted for the majority of our day's activities.

In the evening, Mark led us to
much needed sustenance

Coconut's is one of our son Andrew's favorite dining spots in Kihei.

We love it too.

Lots of choices

I opted for the seafood pasta that consisted of red tomato sauce with ono, mahi-mahi, shrimp, onions, mushrooms, garlic, capers and Parmesan cheese. The large slice of garlic bread helped greatly in sopping up every last milliliter of that delicious sauce.

We all left Coconut's more than a bit happy.

We are doing our best
to do this in Maui daily

Laurie and Susie try to humor
me by saying that I'm getting the
hang of it but I don't agree

Fun old poster on Facebook

On March 5-8, 1936, the St. Louis Cardinals came to Havana, Cuba to play four exhibition Spring training games against a local team comprised of players from two of Havana's best clubs, the Lions and the Almendares.

Legendary Cuban hurler Luis Tiant, Sr., shut the Cardinals attack down in the game he pitched.

His son, Luis Tiant, Jr., would have an outstanding major league baseball career some 30 years later winning 229 games in a 19 MLB seasons.

Because of MLB's "Color Barrier" that would be in place for another 11 years, Tiant, Sr., had no chance to ply his considerable skills in the Land of the Free other than potentially in the Negro Leagues which he did not. Thus, his 22 year career was confined to pitching in Cuba, the Dominican Republic and Mexico.

Make America Great, indeed.

One of the many abhorrent events of American/human history.

Hopefully we will continue doing nothing of consequence on Thursday, ALOHA!
