CYBA Playoffs - Round 2

Saturday, March 2, 2024

The CYBA's version of March Madness continued today for Jacob's Orange team.

CYBA Grade 6 Playoffs - Round 2
The #2 seeded Trojans (6-3)
vs.
The #3 seeded Orange (6-3)

This promised to be a good one and it was.

Let the hand-checking begin!

Crashing the boards

Nice vertical jump

Dribble driving

Trying to clog a passing lane

What is that Trojan looking at?

Man-to-Man defense

The teams both started the game at a torrid pace.

End of the First Quarter
Trojans - 10
Orange - 7

Looking for an open man

Battling for a rebound . . .

. . . that Jacob gobbled up

Another missed shot,
another rebound opportunity

While the competition on the
court was hot and heavy . . .

. . . the spectators were having fun
during the time outs

About to in-bound the ball

More hand fighting just before
an Orange free throw

The Second Quarter was a good one for the Orange.

Halftime Score
Orange - 17
Trojans - 16

Jacob sat out the Third Quarter

The furious battle continued as the Orange opened up their Halftime lead.

End of the Third Quarter
Orange - 25
Trojans - 21

There was lots of fast paced action

Jacob resting during an Orange free throw

The Orange big man, Teddy,
scoring in the paint

This could get weird

Running to find an open spot on the floor

The Orange's best all-around
player is #4 Enzo

Enzo's layup for two!

DEFENSE!

The Orange's designated in-bounder

DENY the pass . . .

. . . disrupt the shot if you must

Crunch time, crisp passes are a MUST!

All under control as the Trojans
shoot a free throw

The game came down to the Trojans last possession but the Orange held on to advance in the tournament.

Final Score
Orange (7-3) - 30
Trojans (6-4) - 28

WOW! What an exciting game indeed. Only one thing to do now . . .

. . . Topper's Pizza to celebrate

By the way, in Round 2 of the NCAA DIII Men's Basketball Tournament at Cal Lutheran University tonight, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Stags (22-6) advanced to the Sweet Sixteen with its victory over the Whitworth Pirates (21-9), 69-67.

On to news from the continent . . .

The first full weekend of games
in the DI Italian Football League

Eight of the nine IFL teams would play, four today and four on Sunday.

The Ancona Dolphins had a solid
victory over the Legnano Frogs

The Torino Giaguari offense topped
the 40 point mark for the second straight
week in their win over the Bologna Warriors

GW and his pals were
PARTY ANIMALS!

I agree but I wish he could
have learned more and been
more at peace with himself
