A perfect day to binge watch a few depressing episodes of one of our favorite Nordic Noir characters, Inspector Kurt Wallander of the Ystad Police.
Ystad is located in southern Sweden known as Skåne and is about 60 miles due south of the city of Hässleholm where we coached the Hurricanes in 2010.
Author Henning Mankell's
famous but dark policeman
We had the opportunity to visit Ystad a few times in 2010 and even took the Wallander Walking Tour that took us to many of the key sites in Ystad that are found in Mankell's books.
I have read all of them and, like most Nordic Noir writers, leave you thinking twice about walking out of your flat into the slaughterhouse that are the streets of every village, town and city in Scandinavia.
Or so they would have you believe.
We have travelled extensively over the years in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden and we are still waiting to spot our first gruesome murder victim in the bushes or behind a trash can.
Maybe we just didn't get out enough.
Regardless, these BBC adaptations of Mankell's books, which we borrowed from the Camarillo Public Library, were outstanding, starring Kenneth Branagh in the title role.
On to the Camarillo Stingers final day of Hell Week practice without pads. It gets real next Monday in full gear.

Freshman team
This sign signifies which area of the field they should use for practice.
The Stingers have six different teams competing in their Pop Warner conference each based on successive age and weight groups.
From youngest to oldest, these teams are known as Mighty Mites, Bantams, Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors.
The Stingers program has players ranging from five to 13 years old and, no, the team division names have nothing to do with the high school classes of the same name.
Jacob and his dancing feet
Same drill going back
Eyes of an assassin about to
devastate that blocking shield
Good leg drive but
improve the FINISH!
Time to face life again . . .
The internet NEVER lies
DAMN!
