LOTS of Fun Doings This Week With Family and Friends

Tues.-Sun., June 16-21, 2026

First and foremost to the good men out there . . .

INDEED!

Mary getting in the football mood this
week with this retro Big Bear H.S. Passing
Tournament t-shirt from 40 years ago

I attended another Camarillo H.S.
Frosh football practice

Absolutely!

Jacob in a stance closest to us
with a haircut at long last

Get-off and Change of Direction Drill

He is wiry but quick compared to the other linemen.

Blocking Drill . . .

. . . Punch . . .

. . . and Finish

He needs to improve driving

Jacob now at Defensive End on
the far side of this formation

Now he's lined up at Running Back

Defensive Pursuit Drill

Same Drill with Jacob at Strong
Safety lined up on the near hash mark

So ended another night of
Scorpions Frosh Practice

Post-practice meal at Toppers Pizza

I asked Jacob about the various positions he played tonight and his response was that he wanted the coaches to see him in all of these spots so that during the season, if injuries happen, they can use him as an emergency player.

He just wants to be on the field somehow, someway.

Good thinking young man.

The City of Camarillo finished
repaving our street, it took
three days

On Wednesday night, Laurie and I took our longtime friend, Debi Murphy, out to dinner to celebrate her birthday at Camarillo's best Italian restaurant, Chianti Trattoria and Pizzeria.

I ordered one of their specials

A FANTASTIC Tomahawk
Pork Chop in an AMAZING
Barolo wine reduction sauce

I impressed even myself by eating the whole tender, juicy thing.

On Friday we met the Sabolićs at, where else, Rolling Pin Donuts in Camarillo after their semi-successful raid of the local Outlet Mall.

Here Paul and Joanne are
scouring their various phone
apps to see if I can be allowed
to eat a second donut

All their apps said a resounding, "YES!"

The cronut I asked for paired well with my original chocolate crumb donut.

Part of the reason that we met was Paul's more than generous donation to Jacob's efforts in the selling of the highly sought after Scorpion Card which includes a free donut at Rolling Pin if you spend $10 which is about two of their quality donuts.

The offer, with the Scorpion Card, is good until June 2027.

Their generosity still not finished, the Sabolics also gave Jacob an Eighth Grade graduation card that included a donation to his "I Want to Buy an American Civil Replica, Working Musket Fund." Now that he is finally old enough to fire a musket legally in their reenactments, Jacob is hoarding his money to buy his first weapon.

On Saturday, these two had
another Graduation Party
with just Family

Lots of Family

Joyful Foursome as always

Our Glorious Leader's
Reflecting Pool Project

Wanderlust Italian Style

Speaking of Italy . . .

Italian DI Semifinal Result

Firenze Guelfi (9-0) - 48
Ancona Dolphins (6-4) - 21

No surprise here.

Italian DI Semifinal Result

Parma Panthers (7-2) - 42
Torino Giaguari (6-4) - 35

A bit closer than most expected.

Italian Bowl XLV in Ferrara
on July 4th

This Italian Championship Game brings together the two best clubs of recent DI history in what should be another classic contest.

Parma has won seven Italian Bowls (2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2021, 2023 and 2024) and have been on the losing side of four other Italian Bowls (2006, 2007, 2014 and 2015).

Firenze has played five Italian Bowls, winning 2022 and 2025 and losing in 2019, 2023 and 2025. With this upcoming Super Bowl, the Guelfi have now appeared in six of the past seven Italian Bowls.

On April 11th, in Florence, the Guelfi beat the Panthers handily, 49-27

Italian DII Semifinal Result

Milano Seamen (7-2) - 29
Padova Saints (7-3) - 12

Are the Seaman going to return to DI in 2027?

Italian DII Semifinal Result

Trento Thunders (8-2) - 28
Monza Daemons (8-1) - 27

Must have been a great game to witness!

Silver Bowl XXXII in Ferrara
on July 4th

I like the Thunders to win this one.

Italian DIII
North Conference Championship Result

Cagliari Crusaders (8-0) - 24
Piacenza Wolverines (7-2) - 21

The Crusaders magical, gritty season continues.

While the North Conference title
is good, the National Crown is better

Italian DIII
South Conference Championship Result

Formigine Honey Badgers (8-0) - 21
Ravenna Chiefs (7-2) - 14

It was another highly competitive game.

While the South Conference title
is good, the National Crown is better

Nine Bowl XXVI in Ferrara
on July 5th

Italian DIII plays nine-man football.

Let's take a break to dream a bit . . .

I think that this is a positive sign

No wonder the bars in Spain
usually don't feel crowded

Fierce economic competition
I would guess

The end of the French football season . . .

French DI Championship Poster

French DI Champions

Thonon-les-Bains Black Panthers (11-1) - 49

A tense battle in Germany to be sure.

AFLE Week 5 Result

Vienna Vikings (5-0) - 62
London Warriors (1-4) - 10

A not so close game between two unevenly matched clubs.

The Vienna Vikings are the
Class of the AFLE

Fullback Jim Taylor of the
Green Bay Packers

Those were the days.

Two games this weekend in European Football Alliance play . . .

EPA Week 6 Result

Nordic Storm (5-0) - 48
Paris Musketeers (3-2) - 16

The Nordic Storm are a force this season!

EPA Week 6 Result

Frankfurt Galaxy (2-3) - 31
Prague Lions (0-5) - 18

Despite all of these losses, Prague is still a BEAUTIFUL city, one of our favorites to be sure.

The Nordic Storm and Munich
Ravens are still undefeated in the EPA

True

Socha Rhinos vs. Bogota Panthers
in Colombia

I always look forward to these dark Rhinos pre-game posters.

Dare we go back to Mendoza
again this coming Fall?

Memories of wonderful Malbec wines and a delicious Argentine Tomahawk Steak make a return attractive.

Finally . . .

They grow them BIG in
Riverside, California!

In 1964, as a Senior at St. Francis H.S., I was listed in the game program as the biggest Golden Knight on that year's C.I.F.-Southern Section "AAA" Championship team at a strapping 6'2" and 204 lbs.

The times they are a changing.
