Before we delve into the doings on the last day of 2025, I must mention a game played Tuesday evening.
The Alamo Bowl from
San Antonio, Texas
In 2011, we attended this bowl game when our PAC-12 Washington Huskies (7-6) lost a crazy game to the BIG-XII's Baylor Bears (10-3), 67-56.
In a famous pre-game meeting, both coaching staffs agreed that Defense would be optional that long ago night.
On a side note, we found San Antonio to be a great bowl game destination.
Tuesday night's game saw the BIG-10's USC Trojans (9-3) taking on the measure of the BIG-XII's TCU Horned Frogs (8-4).
GREAT BALLGAME!
TCU won in overtime on a Third & 20 check down pass to a running back designed to pick up some yards to make it an easier Field Goal attempt for their kicker to send the game into a Second Overtime period.
The receiver broke four tackles as he danced his way up the sideline for an improbable game winning 35 yard TD play.
WOW!
Laurie and I started our New Year's Eve Day by going to a movie showing at our local Edwards Cinema at 10:40 a.m.
It was an EXCELLENT movie that
we both thoroughly enjoyed!

After our latest film experience, we returned home to watch a couple of football games.
The Citrus Bowl from

When we got home, this game was at Halftime with the score tied 17-17.
This game featured two of
college football's Blue Bloods
The SEC's #14 ranked Texas Longhorns (9-3) were battling with the BIG-10's #18 ranked Michigan Wolverines (9-3).

In the late afternoon, our attention was drawn to the CFP.

Seriously, why not?
The stands would probably be packed and the local economy would benefit greatly.
Somebody needs to get Senator Ted Cruz on board with this during his ongoing battle with the NCAA.
Thinking about the original New Year's Day bowl games (Rose, Orange, Sugar and Cotton Bowls), I thought back 48 years to our first Washington Huskies (8-4) Rose Bowl on January 2, 1978 as the Huskies stunned the Michigan Wolverines (10-2), 27-20.
Programs were only $2.50
They are selling for $15 tomorrow.
Tickets had a face value of just $17.50
So, for a mere $20, back in 1978, you had a souvenir program and your ticket to the game.
Also note that last line on the ticket, FREE AUTO PARKING.
For a regular season UCLA game at the Rose Bowl it would cost you $50 to park your car.
Because of the torrential rains predicted for this year's game, StubHub's cheapest Rose Bowl ticket for tomorrow's #1 Indiana (13-0) vs. #11 Alabama (11-3) game are going for just $72 each.
That is a bargain in today's bowl marketplace.
The Cotton Bowl from
Arlington, Texas
Our first CFP Quarterfinal Game featured the ACC's #10 seeded Miami Hurricanes (11-2) vs. the BIG-10's #2 seeded and defending National Champion Ohio State Buckeyes (12-1).
A GREAT upset win for Miami!
Now, if we could just keep Hall of Fame WR and Miami alum Michael Irvin off the sidelines . . .

That's just about correct
As for my New Year's resolution, it should somehow revolve around less food intake.
