Our 52nd Wedding Anniversary and the Start of Jacob's Pop Warner Practices

Monday, July 17, 2023

Today we celebrated our 52nd wedding anniversary.

We exchanged our vows on
July 17, 1971 at Holy Redeemer
Catholic Church in Montrose, California

Since then, we have had so many . . .

. . . many . . .

. . . many . . .

. . . SPLENDID adventures together

We opted to celebrate our special day
with a meal and beach day in the
quaint seaside city of Carpinteria

Lots of sidewalk art was on display

Mexican food for lunch was a
real possibility

Sushi was another option

A GREAT breakfast spot in town

Instead of those choices, we opted for a nice, light Italian meal with a definite Sicilian feel at Little Dom's Seafood restaurant.

After polishing off two shared arancini rice balls and a thin crust prosciutto pizza, we were still a tad parched.

Island Brewery was a solid decision

Some BIG sunflowers in Carpinteria

A cold beer on a hot day with
a cute girl is HEAVEN!

After lunch we lounged for a few hours
at the shores of "The World's Safest Beach"

I think that we had a good day celebrating over half a century of married bliss.

In the evening, I headed over to Camarillo's Freedom Park for the first official practice of the 2023 Camarillo Stingers Pop Warner season.

Jacob will play for the Stingers
Sophomore team this year

Michael will be the Sophomores
Defensive Coordinator this season

Jacob catching a pass while waiting
for the start of two weeks of conditioning
"Hell Week" practices

Lefty's throwing arm looked
much better this year

Running . . .

. . . LOTS of running during "Hell Week"

The entire Stingers program
consisting of eight teams and
about 200 players were all on hand

Jacob running bag drills with . . .

. . . Michael coaching up the troops

Blocking is one of the basic
fundamentals that must be mastered

Jacob turning a corner

Two hours of conditioning and agility drills were finally in the books. One practice down and only nine more to go in the tedious life that is "Hell Week."

I know, the odds that I was actually
in a gym working out are remote
