The Dominoes Assassin Strikes Again!

Tues.-Thurs., July 11-13, 2013

While my 98 year old Mother's health continues to be a daily roller coaster ride, her competitive drive shines through on full, 100% alert/strike mode!

She has always LOVED to play
the Cuban National Game of Dominoes

With an eye on keeping her mind focused, she and I have been playing a Dominoes tournament on my visits for the last ten weeks, a total of 27 days.

We keep score because, as she says, if we don't, then why are we playing?

So far this week, on Wednesday and Thursday, she has throttled me both in games won, 55 to 35, and in points, 876 to 665.

The overall totals for our ten weeks sees her in the lead again in both categories. Her lead in games won is 488 to 471 and in points she is up 7,794 to 7,522.

She counseled me to not worry and try to come back on Friday with a more rested, focused approach.

Just what I need, head games from our resident Dominoes Assassin!

Mateusz Dzioban played for our
first Europe Warriors team in
Mexico City back in August, 2017

A native of Poland, he was only a 21 years old, extremely polite, defensive back when we first met.

He told me back then that until just two weeks before our meeting he had never been outside of Poland. That first crossing of the Polish border was to attend an American football camp in Italy.

The 18 hour trip to Mexico City that included a layover in another country was his first ever time on an airplane. His dedication and love of the game continues to this day six years later.

Since our shared Europe Warriors experience, he has been playing for clubs at the highest level of the Polish league.

Mateusz signed with the European League of Football's expansion Fehérvár Enthroners (0-6) to start the 2023 season, was released by the Hungarian club on Monday and quickly signed by another ELF club, Poland's Wroclaw Panthers (4-2), on Tuesday.

Follow your dreams, for the love of the game . . .

It is a tad mysterious that they are still only 3-3 on the season.

I never knew about this

Laurie informed me that it is a well known fact in her circle of friends and imbibers.

Friday's should be fun as I meet with blog groupies Paul Sabolic and Michael D'Antuono for lunch before getting drubbed at Dominoes again by my Mother.

Stay tuned for updated Dominoes results . . .
