Wednesday, 15 April, 2015:
Some days it just feels right to stay in La Hacienda all day reading a good book and watching a movie while sharing a couch with the love of your life.
Today, also a damp one, was one of those days.
In the evening, it was really nice to only have the Senior practice now that the Junior season is over.
We had a good turnout and I think that we had the right mindset at practice going into our last regular season game against the 2-5 Búfals in Barcelona next Sunday at 11:00 a.m.
After Sunday's game, Laurie and I will be staying in Barcelona for a couple of days as we give the Cobras the usual Monday after a game off.
Our playoff run will start in two weeks on Sunday May 3rd. As the Par Conference's #2 team, we will play at home against the #3 team from the Impar Conference.
The Impar Conference's #2 and #3 playoff teams are still somewhat of a mystery. Their #1 team is not a mystery at all as the Barberà Rookies are a perfect 7-0 on the campaign.
The #2 and #3 seeds will be decided this weekend as the 4-3 Granada Lions travel to Madrid to play the 3-4 Las Rozas Black Demons, while the 3-4 Coslada Camioneros have a tough road trip to the home of the 7-0 Barberà Rookies.
There are four scenarios possible in the Impar Conference.
SCENARIO 1: If Granada and Barberà both win then it is Barberà (8-0) #1, Granada (5-3) #2 and Las Rozas (3-5) #3.
Although Las Rozas and Coslada would both be 3-5 under this scenario, Las Rozas wins the tie-breaker. They split their two games but Las Rozas wins out by aggregate score in the two contests having outscored Coslada 26-15.
The Cobras would host the 3-5 Las Rozas Black Demons if this scenario happens.
SCENARIO 2: If Granada and Coslada both win then it would be 7-1 Barberà #1, 5-3 Granada #2 and 4-4 Coslada #3.
The Cobras would host the 4-4 Coslada Camioneros if this scenario happens.
SCENARIO 3: If Las Rozas and Barberà both win then it would be 8-0 Barberà #1, 4-4 Las Rozas #2 and 4-4 Granada #3.
Las Rozas would get the higher seed and a first round home game based on the Black Demons having beaten Granada in both of their confrontations.
The Cobras would host the 4-4 Granada Lions if this scenario happens.
SCENARIO 4: If Las Rozas and Coslada both win then it would again be 7-1 Barberà #1, 4-4 Las Rozas #2 and 4-4 Granada #3.
In this scenario, 4-4 Coslada, even with an epic upset of the Rookies, wouldn't make the playoffs as they would still lose both tie-breakers to Las Rozas and Granada. Coslada lost both games against the Granada Lions and would still lose the tie-breaker vs. Las Rozas as outlined in SCENARIO 1 above.
Las Rozas wins the tie-breaker vs. Granada in this scenario as discussed in SCENARIO 3 above.
The Cobras would host the 4-4 Granada Lions if this scenario happens.
All that being said . . .
BEAT THE BÚFALS!!!

Has that rumored threat of Federation sanctions over the un-played Junior game been dismissed, then?
David,
No, that rumor us still out there. We won't know anything until after this Sunday's final regular season game has been played.
We are keeping our fingers crossed!
