Practice only Wednesday

Wednesday, 22 April, 2015:

After our extended weekend in Barcelona and seven hour train ride back to Murcia Tuesday that took up most of the afternoon and evening, we opted to stay in La Hacienda doing laundry, reading and downloading game tapes of our game against the Búfals.  I also started looking at our Wild Card playoff game opponent, the Las Rozas Black Demons, for the first time this season.

In the evening, it was time to board the tram for the ride up to "El Campo de los Sueños" for our first of five practices over the next two weeks before hosting the Wild Card game on Saturday or Sunday, May 2nd or 3rd.

They need to update this sign to
El Campo de los Sueños

Manicured

It is the first words that come to my mind -- eat your heart out George Toma!

The first word at practice was our pristine field and our inability to use it next week.

Next week, Murcia will be holding a huge rock concert that draws lots and lots of visitors to la ciudad.

To aid with this overflow of visitors to our fair city, the powers that be annually close down El Campo de los Sueños to all athletic practices or contests. The field will be open to campers to pitch their tents for the week. I have been told by the Cobras that every year after this festival campout, the field is destroyed.

Is that even possible?

Thus, next week's Monday and Wednesday practices will both be held in Guadalupe on our AstroDirt facility. Our last practice before playing the Black Demons is scheduled for Friday, May 1st. That is Labor Day in Europe and, as such, at this point we are not sure if we will be able to find a field that will be open for our use on this international holiday.

Which brings us to our Wild Card game. El Campo de los Sueños will still be chockfull of campers over the weekend so we are still negotiating with several other nearby stadiums to use them for the game.

Stadium availability is why we are still not sure if we will play the Wild Card game on Saturday or Sunday.

Of course, the final Joker in this Wild Card two weeks is that some of our players will have to decide whether or not to play depending on which day and at what time the game will be played. You see, the first weekend in May is a traditional time for ever important, family oriented First Communions in España.

EuroBall . . . NEVER a dull moment for a coach trying to prepare a team for a victory!!!
