Easter Sunday and a Quiet Trip Home

Sunday, 5 April, 2015:

I hope that everyone had a Happy Easter. We started the day with a leisurely stroll from our Hotel to Lorca's train station.

The Río Guadalentín closely
resembles the Los Angeles River

 A stylish bridge

Jason Johnson is still BIG in Lorca

Indeed

I did not touch

Laurie spotted this reflection

Classic Church Door
complete with Nazarenes

 Lots of colors

Newly painted fountain

After a solid breakfast near the Plaza de España, we were headed back to Murcia via . . .

 . . . a Cercania train

El Puente de Peligros in Murcia
with the Sardine just past the archway

Suddenly, we heard drums beating about a block away . . .

Well it IS Easter Sunday after all

Shepherds had replaced Nazarenes

Shepherds of all sexes and ages

But caramelos were still to be had

St. Michael the Archangel
spells doom for Satan

 Back to work

Tote that Archangel

It's all about the outfits

Where is your helmet?

Plumes are good

Never too early to start your
music education

Another group of Shepherds approached

A big group at that

Again with the kid shepherds

Tending the flock

Laurie about to lead us to La Hacienda

Peñas are popping up all over Murcia

They are selling food and beverages throughout this week's Fiestas de Primavera. I'm pretty sure that we will eat at one in the coming few days.

Once back at La Hacienda, it was time to start watching video tapes of the 6-0 Reus Imperials, our opponents next Sunday.

It turns out that their record is no accident, they are good indeed. We will have our hands full trying to keep up with them.

To sum up our first Semana Santa in España that included stops in Murcia, Alicante and Lorca, IT WAS GREAT!!!
