Promoting American Football Around the Globe

Thursday, April 4, 2024
I received a request from coaching friend Jose Antonio Rilo Garcia in Spain to do a promotional video for his team's upcoming flag football tournament set for May 18th.

This is Jose's team in Spain's
famed walled city of Ávila

As you may recall from previous posts, flag football is huge overseas and it will even be an official sport in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.

Laurie plopped me down right
here to do the promo video

The Grizzlies are scheduled to host 24 Adult and Youth teams in their one day mega-tournament known as the Ávila Bowl III.

I was more than happy to help out in any way that I could to help the game grow in España. I even taped my PSA in Spanish for added credibility.

BAM!

No sooner had I sent the finished product off to Jose than it was posted on the Grizzlies' Facebook page.

Jose and the Grizzlies liked it.

I wish them their best Àvila Bowl ever, especially since the early weather reports indicate that the Grizzlies can expect a BEAUTIFUL day for American football on May 18th!

This whole process got me to thinking about the awesome, artistic and creative lengths so many teams go to promote their American football clubs all over the globe.

Here is a long look at the best ones that I've seen this week alone.

Our Varese Skorpions have a
big game in Parma this week

From another game in Italy

Nice, but would this be enough to get fans to overlook the fact that Bologna is 0-4 and Lazio is 0-3?

Maybe what we need is a bolder, more eye catching poster . . .

. . . THAT'S more like it!

The Warrior on the left looks fierce to me!

French poster, simple and on point

This Mexican poster is a good one

The Roosters will be coached by our
friend Michael Wood this season

Men's Flag Football in Mexico . . .

. . . and Women's too

Advertising a youth tackle game
in the greater Madrid megalopolis

A subtle Mexican poster

While the Mexican university season coincides with our collegiate season in the Fall, the youth and professional circuits battle in the Spring.

We loved coaching the Thun Tigers
in Switzerland . . .

. . . plan to have a FULL day of football
if you go to a Thun game

Things are heating up in France

The football in Poland is
improving by leaps and bounds

Two good logos from Italy's DII

If you like your football to be physical
and no nonsense, then go to Sweden

Another good coaching friend,
Jesus Sanchez, coaches the Mallorca Voltors

I have always LOVED the Italian DIII
Varese Gorillas logo

Why aren't more clubs called the Gorillas?

Karlstad, Sweden is a great venue
for an American football game

The San Diego Rebellion kickoff
their 2024 Women's season on Saturday

I have to make seeing one of their games a priority this Spring.

The Crusaders are THE powerhouse
team in the Netherlands

From a DII game in Spain

You better believe that the game in
Poland is going to leave a mark

Just refer to Chuck "Concrete Charlie" Bednarik if you need to find out how serious the Poles are about our game.

In Barcelona, the L'Hospitalet Pioners
have a Men's game . . .

. . . a Women's game . . .

. . . AND a youth games on the
weekend's docket!

The Warsaw Eagles even give you
a weather update and a link to
live stream their game

The predicted 17°C equals a balmy 63°F at game time in the Polish capital.

A wheelchair game of American football
in the UK says it all when it comes to
LOVE OF THE GAME!

The simple Austrian poster needs to
add the date, time and venue I think

This Spanish Mercenaries logo is a
close second to the Varese Gorillas

A guess Mexico did not receive
the PC notice about "Redskins"

Our old club in southeast Spain, the
Murcia Cobras is having a tough year

Our even older club in France, the
Bron-Villeurbanne Falcons, are enjoying
a good 2024 season

This should be a GREAT game between
two Swedish heavyweights

Sounds like things are may be getting
a little desperate in Barcelona

Football in Hungary is up and coming

Another Mexican entry

In Italy, a Rhinos win over the Dolphins
would be a big help to our Varese Skorpions

Back in Holland, is there a better
overall team name than the
Limburg Shotguns?

Now, besides teams promoting their games, leagues also promote their seasons.

The Sabolić Conference of the
Croatian Football League
looks especially strong this year

The Mexican professional Men's
conference is of interest

I need to get to Mexico soon for a game, times a waisting and I'm not getting any younger.

Finland's Maple League doesn't start
up until May due to the extreme cold

Six games in the Polish league
this coming weekend

Youth football in Mexico City

I believe this to be for a high school
aged league in Mexico

There are LOTS of youth teams
in Mexico City

If you want the game to grow, then you just have to be at least part P.T. Barnum in my opinion.

I hope that All-time NFL, Philadelphia Eagles
and Penn Quakers great Center & Linebacker,
Chuck "Concrete Charley" Bednarik,
is happy up in football heaven with this post

One tough Pole to be sure!

Don't forget to go to Ávila Bowl III if you are in Spain on May 18th.
