Odds and Ends Including Our Family's First NIL Deal and Lots of Baseball and American Football

 Mon.-Fri., April 4-8, 2022

It was a calm week for me but a frantic one for at least one of our regular readers who was starting to experience withdrawal symptoms due to such a long drought since our last post.

Privacy issues keep me from divulging any names.

After excitedly announcing that he and his wife would soon be grandparents for the third time, I was lambasted for not posting anything since last Sunday.

So, here goes . . .

We spotted these cool motorcycles
in Ventura at the start of the week

Speaking of Monday events

In a great NCAA Men's basketball championship game, the Kansas Jayhawks beat the North Carolina Tarheels 72-69.

It was a fun March Madness run as usual.

Jacob is excited about this new
exhibit in nearby Simi Valley

We plan on visiting it next week during Jacob's Spring Break.

Last weekend our son Michael traveled to Bisbee, Arizona to play in a vintage baseball tournament using 1860s rules.

He signed a reported $2.5 million
NIL deal with the
Smacker Baseball Bats Company

I think that Michael should model
his beard after this Civil War officer

He was Union Colonel Percy Wyndham noted mostly for his amazing facial hair.

Lots of characters in Bisbee

It was reported that they all
had a good time

On to EuroBall news . . .

Bart Iaccarino's Barcelona Dragons
home schedule was announced

This will be the European League of Football's second season in their effort to become the premier circuit on the continent.

The Mallorca Voltors (2-5) will be at
home vs. the L'Hospitalet Pioners (2-5)
on Sunday

It will be the last regular season game of the Spanish Serie A season for both clubs.

Two of our old clubs, the Murcia Cobras (2-4)
and  the Osos Rivas (7-0) will square off
in another Spanish Serie A game on Saturday

In Switzerland our beloved
Thun Tigers (0-1) take on the
Winterthur Warriors (0-1) this weekend

In France our proud Bron-Villeurbane
Falcons travel to play the
Châteauneuf-du-Rhône 45emes

The records of both clubs are unknown.

In Sicily, our Catania Elephants (0-1)
will be home against the
Eagles United Palermo (1-0)

The Palermo club one the first of the two Sicilian Derby games two week's ago over the Elephants, 37-6.

A BIG game in Italy's DII this weekend

The Varese Skorpions (2-0) will take on the high flying Bergamo Lions (3-0) on Saturday.

Same game, more info

The Lions and Skorpions join the Padova Saints (3-0) and Torino Giaguari (3-0) as the last four undefeated clubs in this year's 12 team Italian DII.

On Sunday the Skorpion ladies will
play in a Flag Football Tournament

They will play three games against teams representing the Bergamo Lions, the Milano Sirene and the Busto Arsizio Tempsete.

The Los Angeles Rams with a
respectable 19 Hall-of-Famers

Dodger Stadium is MLB's
third oldest stadium

Only Boston's Fenway Park (1912) of the American League and Chicago's Wrigley Field (1916) of the National League are older.

Today was the Dodgers
Opening Game of the 2020 season
in Colorado against the Rockies

By the way, the Rockies Coors Field (1995) is the third oldest baseball park in the National League after Wrigley Field and Dodger Stadium.

Unbelievable.

1-0!

Tomorrow, I'm heading to
the home of the USC Trojans
to learn more about this wacky
game of American football

Yep, I still love this game!
