Today was mostly a day to recharge our batteries after a fun filled, busy weekend.
Thus I spent most of the day at home with my two best friends, Laurie and . . .
. . . EVERY coaches best friend!
I had a lot of work to finish as we have multiple videos of our next opponent, DII's 10th ranked Varese Gorillas, that needed breaking down and analyzing via the HUDL app.
An injury to the Gorillas excellent triple threat QB at the very end of their game against the Blue Storms last Saturday only compounds our preparation issues as we do not know which QB we will face in two weeks.
Speaking of issues, our final regular season opponent, the Canavese Mastifs, are dealing with a huge scheduling problem themselves.
As you may recall, the Mastifs road game against the Desio Hammers was postponed last Saturday night due to lightning. With a scheduled 9:00 p.m. kickoff time, the long delay in waiting for the storm to blow over took simply too much time for the game to start without finishing in the wee hours of Sunday morning.
Now here is the dilemma for the Mastifs, Hammers and our governing body, F.I.D.A.F., when to re-schedule the game?
With only three weekends left in the regular season and given F.I.D.A.F.'s, shall we say, interesting scheduling regimen, we have a problem. You see the Mastifs have games already scheduled the last three weekends of the campaign. They have no room for another game on any regular season weekend.
What to do?
The Hammers want to play it, for player safety reasons, on the weekend after the regular season ends which is a bye week for everyone before the start of the 12 team DII playoffs.
F.I.D.A.F. wants them to play on a Wednesday before the end of the regular season so that the playoff picture is clear for everyone immediately after the end off the regular season on May 25-26.
The latest rumor is that they will play the game at the Hammers home field on Wednesday, May 22nd.
If that is true, the Matifs (1-3) would play three games in just eight days as follows:
Saturday, May 18 vs. Milano Rhinos (5-0)
Wednesday, May 22 at Desio Hammers (2-3)
Saturday, May 25 at Varese Skorpions (4-2)
It will be interesting to see what all three parties finally agree to do.
Maybe not schedule 9:00 p.m. games in the future and balance out the front loading and/or back-loading of schedules in the future.
We did venture out of the house once today to visit my hair stylist in Venegono Inferiore.
She is simply AMAZING
with her creativity and
ingenuity in creating my look
