With all of the loose ends seemingly tied up, I'm now ready to embark on what really should be my final EuroBall coaching experience.
It all started back in the Winter/Spring of 2008, my first year as a retired high school teacher, let's see where my coaching adventures have taken Laurie and I over the many years.
EuroBall Adventures I & II
2008 Defensive Coordinator and
2009 Head Coach Catania Elephants
in the Italian province os Sicily
The Elephants were a wonderful group of people that made coaching so much fun.
EuroBall Adventure III
2010 Head Coach Hässleholm Hurricanes
in the Skåne region of Sweden
A team made up of amazing, down to earth, caring people.
EuroBall Adventure IV
2012 Head Coach Thun Tigers
in Switzerland's Berner Oberland
The only thing better than the Tigers family was living in the middle of the incredible Swiss Alps.
EuroBall Adventure V
2012-13 Head Coach of Lyon, France's
Bron-Villeurbanne Falcons
Again great people and a 12-0, Division III National Championship season. Talk about a memorable year!
EuroBall Adventure VI
2015 Head Coach Murcia Cobras
in the Southeast corner of Spain
As usual the people were warm, friendly and awesome. As for the tapas, WOW!
EuroBall Adventures VII & IX
2015 and 2016 Wäsby Warriors
Fundamentals Coach & Staff Mentor
near Stockholm, Sweden
Two heavenly Springs working with the Warriors youth program and meeting so many more interesting Swedes.
EuroBall Adventure VIII
2015 Osos Rivas
Fundamentals Coach & Staff Mentor
near Madrid and . . .
. . . also 2015 Guadalajara Stings
Fundamentals Coach & Staff Mentor
also near Madrid as the Stings were
an Osos Rivas developmental squad
What is not to love about coaching and living in Spain?
EuroBall Adventures X, XI, XIII, XV & XVI
Europe Warriors All-Star Games
2017 Offensive Line Coach in Mexico City
2017 Offensive Line Coach in Texcoco, Mexico
2018 Head Coach in Chihuahua, Mexico
2019 Offensive Line Coach in Vienna, Austria
2019 Head Coach in Mexico City
Two of these were games between the Warriors' Mens team and top colleges from Mexico.
Two were Under 19 games versus the National teams of Mexico and Austria.
The final Warriors game was a Women's game against the Mexican National team.
Great fun as usual working with a truly international cast of coaches and athletes.
EuroBall Adventures XII, XIV & XVII
2018 Head Coach Varese Skorpions
2019 Head Coach Varese Skorpions
2020 Head Coach Varese Skorpions
in Northern Italy's Lombardia Region
The people made this spot ever so much fun as Prosecco Time was a constant.
Having to give up on the season after three months during the Pandemic of 2020 was off the charts different to be sure.
EuroBall Adventure XVIII
2022 Linebackers Coach Brasil Onças
National team Camp in São Paulo
I know Brazil is not in Europe, but it was adventure nonetheless. There were so many outstanding athletes and fine coaches involved in this well run camp.
And finally . . .
EuroBall Adventure XIX
2025 Defensive Coordinator Gijón Mariners
in Spain's Northern Province of Asturias
". . . payin' anything to roll the
dice just one more time!"
Besides looking forward to the football, Asturias is also the province where my Maternal grandparents were born.
My Abuela Catalina was born in the village of Alles.
My Abuelo Evaristo was born in the city of Infiesto.
I still have cousins who live in nearby Avilés and look forward to seeing them again.
The hard part today was saying goodbye to Jacob and Mary when they came by the house this evening.
That was not easy at all.
