One Last Weekend in California

Fri.-Sun., January 3-5, 2025
The past few days were mostly devoted to packing and last minute shopping for all sorts of things needed for my impending three month stay in Gijón, Spain to be the Defensive Coordinator of the hometown Mariners eleven.

Laurie and I enjoyed two breaks from our endeavors to dine with friends one last time before departing the New World.

On Saturday night, we broke bread at Camarillo's Chianti Trattorria and Pizzeria with Koreen and Brian FitzGerald Delightful!

Next up was a great Sunday brunch with two wonderful couples, Joanne and Paul Sabolić and Susan and Michael D'Antuono at BJ's Brewpub in Burbank.

Good food, fine beverages and great friends, what else could we ask for during a mini bon voyage tour.

Thank you to all of these couples for the show of friendship which makes leaving Southern California for 90 days a bit more difficult, missing friends and family is by far the toughest part of these EuroBall Adventures.

As much fun as we had with our good, long time friends, the biggest event of the weekend happened at Cronies Sports Grill in Camarillo on Saturday afternoon.

Jacob's Pacific Youth Football League Junior Division American Conference Championship Camarillo Stingers met one more time to receive some more hardware.

Jacob and his Awards

All of the players and coaches received a Championship Ring and a Championship Trophy.

Jacob was one of the few that earned a third award.

I, for one, was most proud of his
Academic Achievement Award

An even bigger source of pride came from knowing that he has now received an Academic Achievement Award each of his three seasons of playing in the Camarillo Stingers program.

GREAT JOB, JACOB!

Washington Huskies LB Drew Fowler,
hilariously, declared that he is leaving
the Huskies to enter the JOB MARKET!

The Rams lost their last game of the
regular season but still won the NFC West

The NFL Playoffs are set

The #4 seeded Rams (10-7) have a tough road to say the least!

First, they will play the #5 seeded Minnesota Vikings (14-3) at home on Monday, January 13th.

If they beat the Vikings, they would next travel to Detroit to play the NFC North Champion and NFC #1 seeded Lions (15-2).

A tough road INDEED!

Well, maybe more probable than funny

One more packing day before a new EuroBall adventure begins.
