A Glorious Saturday for American Football All Over the Globe

Saturday, December 2, 2023

What a BEAUTIFUL day for American football!

First, there was the seemingly unending afterglow of winning the PAC-12 Championship on Friday night.

Beating Oregon set up a possible
#2 Michigan vs. #3 Washington
2024 Rose Bowl

One final BIG-10 vs. PAC-12 Rose Bowl game would be AWESOME!

Washington appeared in three of
the 13 PAC-12 Championship Games

The PAC-12 started playing these end of the season championship games in 2011.

The Huskies, as the above chart shows, won all three of their appearances in the title game.

The final PAC-12 Championship Game all-time leader board is Oregon (4 titles), Washington (3), Stanford (3), Utah (2) and Southern California (1).

A Rose Bowl Game again sounded like fun!

Then CHAOS happened

Now, Sunday's final College Football Playoff selection announcement has a major problem.

Only four spots for five worthy teams.

Michigan is the BIG-10 Champion with a 13-0 record.

Washington is the PAC-12 Champion with a 13-0 record.

Florida State is the ACC Champion with a 13-0 record but injury issues at QB.

Texas is the BIG-XII Champion with a 12-1 record that includes a ten point victory this season vs. Alabama in a game played at Tuscaloosa.

Alabama is the SEC Champion with a 12-1 record.

My picks are Michigan, Washington, Florida State and Texas.

Sorry SEC.

The Final game of the tri-nation
South American Tournament

The Brasil Onças (1-0) destroyed the Colombia Condores (1-1) 56-0 on Friday.

How would the Onças fare against a Team Chile (0-1) squad that lost to Colombia 29-0 on Wednesday with only 24 hours of rest?

We watched the game on YouTube

NO CONTEST!

The Brasil Onças won the
South American Championship

The Brazilian team simply DOMINATED in all three phases of the game in winning their two games by a combined 111-0 score.

Next up for the Onças will be the IFAF World Championship Tournament in Germany next Summer.

Go Onças GO!
A BIG game in the Catalonia
area of northeast Spain

The pre-season Copa Catalana
Tournament Championship Game

It was fitting that it should involve Catalonia's two traditional powerhouse programs, the Badalona Dracs and the L'Hospitalet Pioners.

Dracs Win

As Coach Rosy Nolan used to say, "It's not luck when you shut them out."

This is the governing body for
Community College football in SoCal

I joined the usual suspects to
watch the SoCal Championship Game
#4 Riverside City College Tigers (10-1)
at #3 Ventura College Pirates (8-3)

The winner of this game would play for the California Community College State Championship next weekend.

Ventura, in white, about to score

Good Riverside defense on

This Ventura PAT was good

an outstanding football referee

Curtis Chiaverini

This was a random, first time meeting in the snack bar line with Curtis who coached with Varese Skorpions Head Coach Nick Holt at ACU this season.

Small world.

Riverside led 17-10 at the intermission break.

Riverside Kickoff Return

In the end, Riverside was just too
much for Ventura

Final Score
#4 Riverside (11-1) - 45
#3 Ventura (8-4) - 26

Riverside will now play the Northern California Champion College of San Mateo Bulldogs (11-1) for the California State Championship next weekend.

The Bulldogs beat American River College (10-2), 30-27, today to earn their right to play Riverside City College for the state crown.

I really need to get this
Welcome Mat for the front door

Another GREAT day in Ventura County with family. Life is GOOD!
