Before we get too deeply into another American football blogpost, allow me to share the following picture of my Mother in action today that my sister Linda sent me.
Our 99 year old Mother sipping
on an Ironbeer and eating
plantain chips!
Ironbeer was the extremely sweet national soft drink of Cuba beginning in 1917. Because of Castro's Revolution of 1959, Ironbeer is now part of the long, long list of unavailable products in that troublesome Communist island nation.
It is available in the USA as there is an Ironbeer bottling company based in North Havana, a.k.a., Miami, Florida.
The plantain chips are also a salty Cuban delicacy.
While it sounded sinful on the surface for her to be basing her diet on these two items, one must remember that it was HOT in Pasadena.
Fluid and salt replacement are key issues on days like this.
That's our story and we are sticking to it!

This weeks Stingers (3-0) game at Saugus Navy (2-1) will be Camarillo's first stern test of the season, I believe.
Buckle up, boys!
The Washington Huskies
improved to 2-0 and are still
ranked #8 in the polls
This Saturday's road game against the 2-0 Michigan State Spartans of the BIG-10 Conference should be a good test for the Dawgs.
On to the Continent . . .
2023 Wild Card Playoff Weekend
is in the books
On Saturday, the #4 seeded
Frankfurt Galaxy (11-2) beat the
#5 seeded Berlin Thunder (8-5)
On Sunday, the #3 seeded
Stuttgart Surge (11-2) defeated the
#6 seeded Wroclaw Panthers
The ELF Semi-Finals are next weekend
These should be two great games!
The #1 seeded Rhein Fire (12-0) will host the #4 seeded Frankfurt Galaxy (11-2) in one Semi-Final.
The Fire handed the Galaxy their only two losses of the season winning at home in a Week #1 game, 33-9.
These two Western Conference rivals met again in Week #14 two weeks ago in Frankfurt with the Fire remaining perfect on the regular season with a wild 48-38 victory.
The defending 2022 ELF Champion and #2 seeded Vienna Vikings (12-0) will be the home team against the #3 seeded Stuttgart Surge (11-2) in the other big game next weekend.
This will be the first 2023 meeting between these two ELF powers in 2023.
The 2023 NFL season started this past weekend.
According to the pundits, not much
was expected from the young,
inexperienced Rams roster this season
SURPRISE IN SEATTLE!
The Rams stole a win in Seattle that most of us did not expect.
No, actually the Rams dominated the Seahawks, especially in the Second Half by outscoring the Seattle club 23-0 in the last 30 minutes of the game.
The 1-0 Rams will play the 1-0 San Francisco 49ers next Sunday in Los Angeles.
Can lightning strike twice?
Stay tuned . . .
