Thomas Andersson's 50th Birthday Party

Saturday, 18 June, 2016:

It was a great day today despite another day of Swedish Summer rain.

But first, there was some fantastic news from France tonight

Bron-Villeurbanne Falcons 35
Rouen Leopards 34

My old team the Falcons have done it again!

They finished their second undefeated season in four years, this time winning the 2016 French Division II championship.

In 2013, the Falcons were also undefeated and won France's DIII title.

The Falcons did in dramatic fashion trailing 28-34 with about 30 seconds left in the game. A Falcon TD at this point followed by the crucial extra point gave the Falcons the slimmest of leads at 35-34.

The Leopards had one final shot at the win but a Falcon QB sack sealed the 2016 crown for the hometown team.

Congratulations to all the Falcons for another great year of Falcon football!

If you recall, my 2015 team, the Murcia Cobras, recently won the Spanish DII championship with similar last second heroics.

So over the last two weekends, my last two teams have both finished with undefeated seasons, have won their country's DII championship and will both move up to DI in 2017.

I am SO happy and proud of what these two organizations have accomplished!

The Summer Solstice nears

As you can see, in Upplands Väsby the Sun set tonight any 10:09 p.m and will rise again on Sunday morning at 3:29 a.m.

That's only five hours and 20 minutes of darkness.

Maybe this is why I'm having trouble sleeping.

After some shopping in town,
I stopped at this Konditori for . . .

 FIKA TIME!!!

Fifa time today consisted of hot apple pie with creamy vanilla sauce and some Swedish coffee.

Swedish coffee is strong, I noticed some new hairs on my chest when I got home.

My head was still mostly bald.

In the evening, I joined Aiki Parts and Lotta Douhan for a trip to Mårsta to celebrate our Head Coach Thomas Andersson's 50th birthday.

The party was being held in a nice traditional red Swedish house near this ice rink.

I can't speak for everyone at the party but I know that our table had a lot of fun celebrating Thomas' birthday!
 On Sunday our U15s scrimmage
the Uppsala 86ers

The Uppsala club is one of Sweden's older ones having been founded in 1986, thus their nickname. Their Senior team plays in Sweden's top American football league, the Superserien.

Our Wäsby Warriors's Summer break starts on Wednesday, so this is the last competition of the Spring. It should be fun!

I'll be home with her in 13 more days.
