A Wonderful Saturday Enjoying Camarillo's Bliss

Saturday, July 6, 2024
Once again, I started this warm day with a stroll through Camarillo. This morning I headed to Camarillo's . . .

It's an eclectic part of our quaint city

Camarillo is celebrating 60 years
as an incorporated city in 2024

Saturday morning in Old Town means
that the Farmer's Market was in full swing

Lot of colorful fruits and vegetables

Grapes make the winery

Maybe her last name is Henry

Just getting set up when I arrived

Not sure, but I think that those are
some form of communication devices

Purple eggplant, I believe

These plums looked good

Colorful tomatoes

Summer is corn on the cob season

The Democrats had a voter registration
booth at the Farmer's Market

So did the Republicans.

I needed a cappuccino so my next stop was to Old Town's Tree Lounge Cafe.

Murals at the Tree Lounge are . . .

. . . FANTASTIC!

Further down Ventura Blvd. is this
old Mexican establishment that so
many of our friends rave about

In all the years we've lived in Camarillo, I had never been inside.

Until this morning.

VIVA MEXICO!

The aromas were amazing, I just had to order two of their street tacos, one al pastor and another of chorizo.

I have a new #1 on my list of
Best Street Tacos in Camarillo

The murals at Establos were . . .

. . . quite good . . .

. . . as well

Every rural city like Camarillo
should have an American Legion Hall

Still closed in the early morning
hours but a good spot for an evening
glass or two of fortified grape juice

The rustic State Farm Insurance building

The old Chapel City Baptist Church

A statue of character actor Walter Brennan
who lived in nearby Moorpark in the
years before his passing

Lots of butterflies in Old Town

Excitement abounds in Old Town at
the upcoming opening of a Tiki Bar

Check out the shark's pearly whites
on this orthodontics office's window

Heck yes they have vinyl!

The old Stop and Go has been
reincarnated as . . .

. . . Old Town's first Filipino restaurant

They do serve outstanding pizza

I finished my walk by buying a few
pastries to bring home for my bride

Mary hit the pool in our
backyard this afternoon

Mary showing off her artistic
style on the water slide

Jacob airborne

Jacob overshot this landing but we had
a safety backup for just such a mishap

They got me to sit in the pool

Then they proceeded to recreate . . .

. . . the old cold water ALS Challenge

Jacob cooling off Gigi

Mary is a good hugger

They came over today to celebrate
my birthday which is really on Sunday

I blew out the one candle on the birthday cupcakes with ease.

Receiving hand made Birthday
Cards NEVER gets old

Jacob even had 77 birthday candles
on this cake that he made for me

AWESOME!

While we were enjoying a fun day in Camarillo, there was lots of American football activity overseas too.

Italy's final game of the 2024 season,
DII's Silver Bowl XXX

Great poster by the way!

The 7-2 Modena Vipers vs.
the 9-1 Ferrara Aquile

Both teams had to win Wild Card games on their way to the Silver Bowl XXX game.

At the Half, the game was tied at 3-3.

All Vipers in the Second Half

2024 DII Championship Bracket

Well done Vipers!

The Men's DI Title Game in Sweden

Carlstad won 51-22

GOLD it is for the Crusaders

But the Carlstad program was definitely not done for the day.

Sweden's Women's DI Championship Game
Carlstad Crusaders vs. Copenhagen Raptors

The Crusaders Women won their
DI Title Game easily, 46-0

Yes, it was indeed Double Gold today
for the Carlstad Crusaders!

Serbian Bowl XIX was played today
SBB Vukovi Belgrade (8-1) - 28
Kragujevac Wild Boars (7-2) - 6

Amsterdam Crusaders win BNL III

Actually, the Crusaders have won all
three Belgian Netherland League titles

The ELF's Week #7 Saturday
was of interest

In the day's big game Austrian Derby,
the Vienna Vikings (7-0) beat the
Tirol Raiders (5-2)

A solid pregame poster for
Munich Ravens at Barcelona Dragons

A better poster for the same game

The Munich (3-3) victory over
Barcelona (2-5) was worse than
the score would indicate

On Friday, Barcelona fired their Head Coach. As a result, reportedly only two assistant coaches and one of their import players showed up to the game on Saturday.

A freeze had also been placed on the club's finances by someone with the power to do so.

With the score 54-0 at the Half and the Dragons in disarray, Barcelona refused to take the field for the Second Half.

This is not a good look for the ELF at all.

The Dragons (2-5) are scheduled to host the Madrid Bravos (4-1) next week.

Stay tuned for further developments.

Solid but not great poster

Helvetic (1-5) upsets Milano (3-4)

Madrid (4-1) with a solid victory
against Frankfurt (2-3)

Four more ELF games on Sunday

A solid talking point

Good Lord, YES!

A nightly event in our home

It was a good day, THANKS FAMILY!
