Another Sight Seeing Day in Sunny Seattle

Tuesday, November 6, 2018

Another day of adventure loomed on Laurie's last day in Seattle before returning home to Camarillo later in the evening.

As usual, I had to check out the boating action in the Montlake Cut first thing in the morning . . .

Now that is definitely NOT
an eight-oared shell coming
into Portage Bay today

At lunch time we picked up the Johnson's youngest daughter, Mallory, who is a Sophomore at the UW majoring in Computer Science.

In a recent Facebook post a random site had named the best street tacos venue in each of the 50 states and the District of Columbia.

The state of Washington's street taco heaven is located in Seattle's Ballard district, so away we went!

El Camión was the call

El Camión is Spanish for truck and they do indeed have Food Trucks to take their great street tacos out to meet the public's, if not President Trump's, demand for delicious Mexican cuisine.

We opted to dine at El Camión's lone brick and mortar site.

Don't let El Camión's decor
scare you away

Well, OK, this one even
disturbed me just a bit

As for the street tacos, PRIMERA CLASE!

Sated, we then drove over to the UW Athletic Department to talk about some aid for EuroBall.

As it turns out, at the conclusion of this academic year in late May, the UW Athletic Department and all of their teams, will be switching from the current Nike gear contract to a new one with Addidas.

That means that they will have to get rid of all of their current Nike gear in May. For EuroBall purposes that means lots of possible game and practice jerseys and pants available at a low cost.

A few years ago, at the UW's Surplus Store, we were able to buy high quality, used pants and jerseys for a mere $1 each.

Our goal was to find out when the no longer needed football gear might come up for sale as NCAA rules prohibit giving away gear for free.

The famed "Boomer Schooner" incident was part of this big upset in Husky history.

I'm a big fan of the Husky Heritage
uniform look

As for the all black Seattle Stealth look, not so much.

I also am against the white helmet of the NW Frost uniform.

Before we headed to Sea-Tac Airport to help Laurie board her flight back to Burbank Airport, we decided to spend some time at one of Seattle's most iconic spots . . .

. . . the Pike Place Public Market

Laurie likes a pig as much
as anybody

Of course we had dinner
in a micro-brewery

The adult beverages were excellent

Little Green Ball of Death?

Dining on a dare.

As we learned years ago in Palermo,
you must eat the ENTIRE octopus
head and all!

Make sure that you have lots of lemons handy when you start attacking its head.

The famed Flying Fish schtick
that is the signature Pike Place
Public Market experience

Our visit here was a good way to end
Laurie's portion of our trip

She was headed home but my travel/football adventure would continue for another five days.

Stay tuned.
