Junior American Conference Playoffs
Round One - Bye
Oct. 26 vs. #8 Camarillo Stingers Blue
We caravanned into the stadium
with Vanessa, Michael and . . .
. . . Mary who was decked out in
her Dad's ancient Pop Warner jacket
The old Camarillo Roadrunners Pop Warner organization has been defunct for many years now.
We were playing at El Cariso
Community Regional Park
It was a nice facility . . .
. . . with good lighting
What are Michael and Mary up to?
Ah, a friendly game of catch
before the teams hit the field
Lace 'em up, it's
GAME TIME!
The Bears, in yellow, were hot
from the get-go
North Valley ran the ball well
If you can run the ball effectively, winning becomes much easier.
The North Valley Defense was TOUGH!
Stingers #66 in a Wildcat Formation
A well blocked play
Stingers' Defense settling into
the flow of the game
Open field tackle opportunity
for Jacob
Another snap . . .
. . . another chance for physical contact
Solid Camarillo Pass Protection
Back to Defense
Here come the Bears!
North Valley can Pass Protect
as well
Pressuring the Bears QB
Good pursuit limits this Bears' play
Swarming the Bears to the ground
End of the First Quarter
#1 North Valley - 6
#8 Camarillo - 0
Bears take to the air
A huge North Valley gain was
called back due to an illegal block
As Paul Sabolić would attest, the referees in the San Fernando can be somewhat whacky.
Tonight the ref wearing the white hat would be a tad more than merely whacky.
The Defense just kept playing HARD!
Stingers trying to get their
ground game untracked
Yards via the running game were hard to come by vs. the stout North Valley Defense.
Solid blocking on this rush
Trouble brewing in the middle
The Bears were in open space too often
The Defense kept making the Bears
work for their yardage
It was a physical game
Bodies colliding everywhere you look
The Pit was as it should be
Kickoff Return
A good looking play for Camarillo
GREAT BLOCK!
The Pass Protection continued
to shine in this game
This QB Scramble ended the First Half
Halftime Score
#1 North Valley - 14
#8 Camarillo - 0
Stingers' Kickoff Return . . .
Alas.
their gaps
playing with GREAT PASSION!
End of the Third Quarter
#1 North Valley - 14
#8 Camarillo - 0
Uh-Oh
Keep Pursuing!
The Bears' ground assault was
hard to stop
Good tackle by these two Stingers
It's a hectic life in The Pit
GET THERE!
Help Arriving
Too many of these open field
tackles on this pleasant night
A little running room
This Reverse . . .
. . . worked for a BIG gain
Back on Defense
Another run no doubt
#99, taking the QB on this Read
Option as the game ran out of time
It was a tough, physical game from start to finish with both clubs playing their hearts out.
The Bears showed their metal and proved that they are deserving of their #1 Seed in the Playoffs.
FINAL SCORE
#1 North Valley Bears (8-00 - 20
#8 Camarillo Stingers (6-3) - 6
Post-game group meetings . . .
. . . are tough after a season
ending loss like this one
Head Coach Chad addressing
the team and already talking
positively about next year
For Jacob, I thought that this, his third season of Stingers tackle football, was easily his best one yet. I saw him make lots of physical, technical and knowledgable improvements to his game.
A lot of this is due to the positive nature of the coaching that he received this season.
GREAT YEAR STINGERS!
